It was dirty and cold. It was a very cold day but still so cold and the ambiance was not good. I also booked downstairs and they put us upstairs.

The salmon benedict, western omelette and pancakes were the best we ever tasted! The service was excellent and the room was cozy and warm sitting by the fireplace. Can’t wait to return.

We went in the winter and the downstairs is cozy with the fireplace. The food was fresh, seasoned and nicely presented. It was a busy Saturday evening and service lagged little near the end of our meal. We would return again and recommend you try it too.

Basement fireplace room was perfect on a winter day and food was good and service prompt. What upended the entire experience was the host coming down to tell us that 50 minutes into our meal she needed us to leave in order to clear the table for another party. This was not a walk in and a party of 6 that we reserved so there should have been ample time allowed for our experience. And 50 minutes is not acceptable. What's more is the way she asked was short and rude. Great way to ruin what had been a great start.

Mussels very good. Ordered focaccia bread to soak up excellent sauce. Turkey burger very good. Veal parm so-so. Not very happy with our table or the music. Very pricey for what we ordered.

Hi Sharon, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at South End Buttery. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed our mussels and turkey burger so much! We do not currently serve veal parmigiana, although we used to serve chicken parmigiana on earlier menus.

The food was great, and they did a great job on the crispy brussel sprouts (and the french fries!). I will say the place itself is a verrrrry intimate environment (i.e you are sitting a foot away from another table) so if you’re claustrophobic you might run into some issues, but it’s a cute spot and we found it cozy. The service was okay, not great but not bad by any means. Overall no complaints, we enjoyed it and would definitely come back now that we know what to expect! ***Bonus points because they had Athletic beer there!!!!***
