   Overall good experience and at least worth a visit. Decided to try for lunch and order fried pickles, southern roll, cornbread basket, fried shrimp plate with greens and green beans, and meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and green beans. Food was well seasoned except the greens. No matter after adding salt, pepper and hot sauce they were not good and I could not finish. Yes, I tried everything before adding salt, pepper and hot sauce, but unfortunately it did not help. This was very surprising considering everything else was well seasoned. So disappointing. Not sure if worth driving 60 miles for again though.

   This was my first time dining at Southern Kitchen. I was pleased with the service, ambiance, and the food. I felt like it was a bit overpriced, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle. For example, a shot of Hennessey was $30...we got 2. I was surprised to see the owner out and about and making thing happen. She smiled at us and thanked us for dining at the restaurant. I will definitely dine again.

   Food seasoned to perfection! Ambience is fantastic. Please please notate the “Gluten Free” options clearly on the menu and train your servers and cooks on this topic. For Celiac disease persons , Gluten Free is A Must Have, not a fad. Consider an option to fry the fish, seafood or chicken in a separate dedicated fryer using Gluten Free FLOUR “ with advance notification of this special request 🤔. This would elevate Southern Kitchen to the top of restaurant choices.

   Food was great as always and service was nice as well. Commander’s completed comeback and the bar area got a little loud but it was fine. Lol

   This was only my 2nd time here and it left much to be desired. The positives are the same from my first visit, the ambience and location are excellent. Last time, the service was average, this time the service was much better. However, the food was average which does not equate to its high prices. The cornbread was good but the Country Fried Chicken which was fine though it wasn’t the best I’ve had. The Mac and cheese was delicious but the yams were a weird gooey texture that I’m not used to when eating candied yams. I didn’t eat but a few bites of it. Last time, my issue was the collard greens as it had no taste to it. Lastly, the final disappointment was the sweet potato pie. It looked a little darker which is unusual for sweet potato pie but I still had a few bites. Well it was awful. Similar to the yams, the pie also had a weird gooey texture. It’s the worst sweet potato pie I have ever had in my life. When I got home, I got sick and everything came back up. The food is too expensive to be disagreeing with my stomach. I doubt if I come back to this place.

   The building is beautiful and food and service was great. It was the perfect venue for our Christmas gathering.

   I have visited the Stony Point location twice recently and I love this restaurant. There is a warm inviting feeling when you walk in the door. The decor is beautiful and the service was excellent. The food was delicious with plentiful portions. It has an awesome vibe and you’ll love the festive holiday decorations. Nice private space available too.
