The Southern Pecan is a casual restaurant celebrating the Gulf Coast cuisine that the owner, Monte Smith, grew up with. Our relaxed ambiance is created by artwork and music that pours blues and jazz into your visit. We have soul food that we can all relate to such as chicken and dumplings, macaroni and cheese, poboys, and tasty fried shrimp, oysters, and catfish. Opening on October 5th, we're ready to give you high level service, and dishes that are too good to be true. Make a reservation with us to have your first unique lunch or dinner at the Southern Pecan.

    The flounder and crusted catfish were great. But impressed me most was how good the sides were-collared greens. Broccoli, green beans and mashed potatoes. The oysters on the half shell were okay. Nice relaxing ambiance and not stuffy. Great holiday dinner with friendly staff.

    A little hidden gem in Phillips Place. Great menu and always great service. My go to spot for lunch.

    This is the second time that I’ve been there and I have to say the food has been really good. The service however was absolutely horrible my second time there. We waited over 45 minutes for the food to come. Our waiter Rick was totally oblivious to how long the food was taking. He never came by to check on us or apologize for the long wait. He finally went to check after I asked him to. We had to ask him for ketchup twice because he kept forgetting; never asked if we wanted additional drinks; never asked if we needed anything else; sent another waitress to bring us pancakes we waited another 15 minutes for; never thanked us for coming. The manager did apologize on his behalf and promised to offer Rick additional training. We were really disappointed at the lack of service and hoping they correct that quickly.

    The food was very good except for the dessert We ordered an apple crumble but what we were served was a sort of apple cake Justin our waiter who is great took off one of the apple crumble off the bill Apparently we were not the only ones to complain about that
