Afternoon Tea
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for brunch
  • Romantic
Join us for a traditional afternoon tea in one of London’s most unique locations – the vaulted crypt gallery beneath St Martin-in-the-Fields on Trafalgar Square.

Enjoy a selection of freshly made finger sandwiches, exquisite pastries and cakes, and of course traditional scones served with Cornish clotted cream and preserves. Not forgetting a wide range of classic teas and tissanes to complete this most special of meals.

And to make it even more of an occasion, why not indulge yourself with a decadent glass of champagne or prosecco too!

Before you leave, don’t forget to browse the wealth of historical monuments housed within the original brick vaulted ceilings and stone floors… London’s history is literally at your feet!

We booked a special tea. When we arrived, they said they had not offered this for many months. They offered lunch instead. We had a nice lunch for free. Don’t book the special tea. Not available.

This restaurant does not offer the afternoon tea that we signed up for. Open table needs to change the reservation criteria. We did not stay to eat and went elsewhere, but the staff there were great and told us that they canceled open table months earlier. They offered us a cup of tea to apologize for open tables mistake.

We made a reservation for afternoon tea. When we arrived, we discovered the restaurant was basically a food court with a buffet line. It took us several minutes and multiple laps around the venue to find a staff person to ask about our reservation. They kept saying they didn't know and would pass is off to another staff person. After 3 rounds of this, eventually some said they don't do tea anymore, but that we could pick foods we'd like and get tea as a beverage from the buffet line. We left. Very unpleasant experience. Not sure why they even take reservations, as it is obviously first come first served with minimal staff on hand.

It was nice afternoon tea, but not very private and seemed a bit expensive for what you got in the end. Lovely service though and nice tea!

Martin was an excellent host, and all of the afternoon tea tasted delicious. I'd definitely recommend my friends to go here for a lovely afternoon in an amazing location. There was also a good back-up option for the out-of-service main elevator.

Martin was FANTASTIC! St. Martin was lovely, but our SERVER Martin was amazing. We had the very best time and perhaps the best service of our two week tour in the Crypts for Tea. Thank you, Martin and St Martins for a memorable day!

Best scones ever! Just like my Nain’s! Martin was a gracious, generous host. Teas at hotels are pretty much the same - The Ritz, Claridge, F&N (beautiful all) but how many can say they had tea in a crypt?! It was cool and quiet with beautiful framed prints of The St. John’s Bible for decor. A top five experience this trip!

The service was OUTSTANDING, definitely the highlight of our experience. The ambience is very nice. If anything to improve, perhaps on the sandwiches. But overall, it was great.

This was really lovely. The space is pretty with fun lighting and some artifacts. The service was spot on, and the food delicious. It was sparsely populated when we went so the noise level was perfect for good conversation. Def recommend.
