Tables are too close to each other; there was a rude and rowdy bunch sitting next to us. I didn’t enjoy a woman’s -ss shaking over my plate nor did my lady appreciate it. No dig on the restaurant but they need to figure a way to not have people sitting on top of each other. Pro: Food, Vibe Con: Service, seating

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome. I was greeted with kindness and my large group was accommodated. The food was absolutely amazing! I had goat that was cooked to perfection. Some of the most tender meat I've ever eaten. I also had coconut spinach and jolaf rice. So good! Our waitress was also wonderful. 10/10!!

I’ve had Swahili Village on the list to visit for at least a year and I am so glad that I got to celebrate my birthdate at this establishment. It was such a good experience! The ambiance was given what I needed it to give to celebrate another year of life, the service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone at my lunch/dinner thoroughly enjoyed their meal, which made me super happy. I had the samosas and the red snapper with jollof rice and cabbage. The jollof was just how I like my jollof, flavorful and not dry. The portion size of each dish was a good amount and the food was seasoned well. I also sampled the suya which was cooked perfectly. Needless to say, I was not disappointed at all! Swahili Village made a fan out of me and I now know when I’m craving some good African food, just where to go!

I’ve been to Swahili village over six times, I used to be very proud to show what a wonderful African restaurant Swahili village in DC is! From the decor, to the food to the music! My last visit Saturday night was horrible! We were seated as soon as we walked in, our server decided to ignore us for about 15 minutes talking to other clients, when he finally came to us, he was clearly intoxicated and was super rude to is. We ignored all that and ordered Samosas which took over 30min to get to us. Then our entree took over an hour and when the food finally came out, it was cold!!! And we had to take silver wear from the table next to us because the server was nowhere to be found. This was hands down the worst experience we had, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back! From the look of it, there was no managers on site and we were the last people to be served in the restaurant although a couple of people were seated after us in different sections.

I dont know if the night before the 31st was rough but the food tasted old/ spoiled. Both Drinks from the bar were called back as they hasn’t put any liquor in them. We were quite disappointed as my husband tends to enjoy this place.
