   Our server was so kind and considerate as well as attentive. She heard my friend say it was my birthday and surprised me with a delicious Creme Brulé and brought us boxes to take home left overs. She let us know that the menu was changing and which items we might want to order since they might be disappearing. I wish I could remember her name, but I didn't see a name tag.

   Tasteless food, with the exception of the potato soup, sticky something on my menu, waiter took it back and don’t bring a new one until I asked twice

   I AM DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED IN TANGATA. I took a client there for her 85th birthday on Wednesday afternoon. We were a group of eight, and I made the reservation for 1 p.m. to avoid the noise of the busiest hour. The menu was more limited than I had anticipated, but the service was good. Additionally, everyone enjoyed their meal: tuna melt, hamburger, French dip, veggie sandwich, etc. They even served a complimentary creme brulee for the birthday girl. With so much good, why am I disappointed??? BRACE YOURSELF. We were wrapping up conversation and slow to depart after having settled the check, but rather than the server or a manager stopping by the table to tactfully say something to politely prompt our departure (for example, "Thank you so much for joining us. We closed at ____ p.m. and you are our last table. May we clear your plates?"), the manager/staff simply TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS ON US. This was not an accident. We were in plain sight of them, but they never again acknowledged us. The birthday girl said, "Well, I guess they must be ready for us to leave. We can take a hint." THEIR POOR CHOICE WAS RUDE, INAPPROPRIATE, AND UNACCEPTABLE. If this had been handled tactfully, we would have completely understood and been out the door within minutes. Instead, some spineless staff/manager chose to turn out the lights without warning. I am surprised they didn't start a vacuum cleaner, too. As a result of my February 12 lunch experience, I will never again recommend Tangata, nor do I expect to return. More importantly, I will tell this true story to 100+ people.

   I have eaten many times at Tangata and have generally been satisfied with my food. This time my soup came cold and it took over 15 minutes to get a warm bowl brought to my table, my toasted sandwich had a rancid oil flavor from the grill yet was also not hot (it was a tuna melt). My son’s beef dip looked over-cooked as well. Generally I would say the food was mediocre which is not what I expect at Tangata. Frankly, I think your menu can use an update. Adding a few luncheon pasta dishes or bowls would be WELCOME. Thank you

   A very good restaurant for people who know and delight in delicious, fresh & well prepared food! AND its location at the wonderful Bowers Museum makes it a perfect, double pleasure!

   I brought in a group of 14 on a Sunday before a lecture. I made a reservation and they had a big table ready. The service was very good, the food was very good, and everyone was able to pay individually - no check splitting issues (memo to other restaurants - since when is this a problem?) Overall a good experience, and I would recommend the restaurant for group events.
