TAO Chicago offers guests a sensual trip through the cuisines of Asia. The design-driven restaurant and adjoining nightclub is inspired by the original TAO locations in New York City, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

TAO Chicago features multiple levels, creating dynamic spaces within the historic building’s shell, while adding TAO’s Asian-influenced DNA to the restaurant, lounge and nightclub including murals by artist Hush and TAO’s signature 16-foot-tall Quan Yin statue anchoring one end of the dining room.

TAO Chicago’s restaurant menu, created by TAO Group Partner and Chef Ralph Scamardella , is complete with Pan-Asian offerings from the sea, sky and land including signature dishes like Satay of Chilean Sea Bass, Crispy Rice Tuna and a Wagyu Rib-Eye.

A waiter dropped a fork on my head (dirty fork) isn’t the place where I thought this would happen. Also waitress told me lobster roll had raw tuna on top and it didn’t. Been here before and the service and quality of food def went down.

Celebrating a birthday at The TAO was an epic experience. We didn’t need to hit a club to enjoy great hip-hop music, and we could still hear each other talk comfortably. The appetizers were so satisfying they could have been a meal on their own, making the main course feel like a plus. It’s definitely a fantastic spot for a date ⚡️

Waited over 20 minutes to be seated for our reservation. Couldn’t get a drink at the bar while we were waiting because the one bartender was nowhere to be found. Once we were seated our server was respondent and the food was pretty good. Would not go back

WORST FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE! We were advised to arrive 15 min before checking, my fiancé and I arrive 15min before our reservation. This was our first time going to Tao and it was a horrible experience with the reservation, we waited a whole hour to get our table and we kept seeing people who arrived after us getting seated. I had to ask three times for an update with our table and was told to wait and after waiting for a whole hour and third time asking they finally sat us down. Being a high rated restaurant we had the worst experience with reservations. Overall the food was good and our waiter was friendly and attentive. They need to have friendlier host and a better organization on their reservations, I don’t see myself going back. No point of making reservations if you constantly have to ask for updates and wait a whole hour to be seated.

My girlfriend and I made a 9:15 reservation on a Saturday night and didn’t get seated till about 10:00pm. The food wasn’t anything better than your typical Chinese take out. We had shrimp tempura, waygu yakitory, orange chicken and vegetable lo-mein with chicken. The lo-mein was edible but I would not recommend ordering it to anyone and if I ever come back I would definitely skip that dish. The waitress was nice but our table was very tiny. We were squeezed between two other tables and it was like we were all eating together. Maybe if I ordered other dishes the experience would have been better. It’s a great place to take selfies or pics with your friends. Also, we wanted to go into the night club after dinner but you have to buy tickets in advance for $20/ person plus a $10 “fee”. I couldn’t order them online for some reason and when I got there the ticket price went up to $30/ person. The ticket only allows you to be one of the hundred or so people standing outside in the cold, waiting to maybe get in. I haven’t seen the night club because i’m not willing to wait in line for G-d knows how long. (This place must be the new Roxberry or something ) However people were waiting down the block, tickets in hand waiting to get into the nightclub in the freezing cold. In short, great ambiance, fair food, very loud. It’s not somewhere I would frequent regularly and i’ve been to many fine dining experience in Chicago. I would go back if someone invited me and I wasn’t paying. The value is very poor.

Our reservation was at 8:15 and we didn’t get seated until 9:05. Our entire was party there prior to the reservation time. The hostess was incredibly rude and felt that we were inconveniencing her by asking if she had an estimate on when our table would be ready (we asked after we had been waiting for 35 minutes). The table we were seated at for 6 people was so small that they couldn’t fit each guest’s entree on it so we had to have our items spaced out throughout the night instead of eating our entrees at the same time. We ordered the $175 dessert bundle to come out right after dinner. They brought out the dessert plates but didn’t bring the dessert out for 25 more minutes. Super disappointing experience!

Great food and ambience. Only complaints are having to wait 50 minutes to be seated (we had a reservation) and the music was too loud to have a normal conversation.

The ambiance and food were fantastic as always, but the service from the hostess and bar attendant was extremely disappointing. A member of our party tried to order drinks at the bar but was ignored for some time. When she finally attempted to ask a question, Nick, the bar attendant, snapped at her, saying, “You just interrupted me while I was doing something.” After this unpleasant interaction, she briefly spoke with the manager, James, who assured her he would come to our table to address the situation, but he never showed up. Overall, the experience fell far short of our expectations. Edit: The service was so terrible I forgot to mention we had a 8:15 reservation but we weren’t seated until 9:25.
