This was our second time in a month. First time we had the swordfish and it was fantastic even though the potatoes were way undercooked. The fish itself was incredible. So we decided to go back. We had the bread app, which is wave hill and incredible. It all went downhill from there. The pickled carrots were fine but not a must. The garlic shrimp were terrible. They had that awful iodine flavor from cheap or old shrimp. We didn’t even finish it. We both had the fish dish, the bass and I just wasn’t good. It’s not like it was inedible. Just nothing I’d ever order again. Our server wasn’t particularly helpful and our drinks took so long we finally grabbed her and you could tell she completely forgot. Other than that we never saw her. Great ambience and their cocktails are excellent. I’d probably go there just to sit at the bar and drink but save your money when it comes to dinner.

Cocktails were good, theme of locally sourced and farm to table fare well displayed. A few mis-steps in execution. Meat in tartare was tender, needed salt, the 'hash-brown' situation underneath slightly over cooked & bitter. Pickled carrots were delicious, needed some Malden or other salt to dip / sprinkle . Gem lettuce salad was the highlight - bright and tangy very refreshing. Shrimp was OK, slightly muddy but rich flavors. Sourdough bread excellent. The strip steak had a very tasty rub, sauce, and fermented creamy greens side. Unfortunately it seemed like they had some issues butchering the strip (maybe it still had the cap on?). We notified the server that it was very tough/ chewy / very hard to eat. She apologized; it stayed on the bill. Service was good; not great, general attitude seemed 'unaffected' by our presence. Would return but it wouldn't be me top choice.

This was my second time to Taproot. The food was unbelievable. Creative, flavorful, and delicious! The waitstaff is professional and attentive. We had a great time trying their cocktails! Love Taproot and can’t wait to try Bar Bushido next!

Taproot is a cute Resturant in the SoNo area of Norwalk CT. Its decor reminds you of eating in someone’s home. The specialty cocktails were delicious and the food choices were fantastic. Service was top notch, even on a busy Saturday night. We will definitely be coming back!
