   This is my third time at Violi. The space and ambiance are consistently beautiful and energetic. Service was friendly, knowledgable. Unfortunately the food was disappointing for the price point. My first experience, we ordered octopus during a busy dinner service. It was plated and served by the waitstaff but was so tough and overcooked, the server made a decision to bring a fresh dish. More recently, we went for lunch. One dish, the shrimp souvlaki (4 pieces of shrimp for 24.99) was inedible-so overcooked, I was barely able to cut. We also ordered dessert, soklolatopita, which was a generous portion but tasted like it was microwaved. Disappointing.

   We had to wait 20mins to be seated even with reservations. They seated us outside when we had reservations for the main room. She said ‘ The music is too loud here, you won’t like it’ ..hmm?! Food was ok, only thing we liked were the lamb chops and the desserts.

   I will say our server was great. She was very kind, personable and we had no complaints in that regard. Other than that…..Food was sub par and not authentic. There are several better options in the Chicago area for Greek food with a much lower price tag.

   We had reservations at 9 PM. However, we were not seated until 9:44 PM. We were advised that customers were not leaving their tables. Beth, the manager, accommodated my group with complimentary drinks and appetizers. We enjoyed our experience overall. Thanks to Beth and her team.
