Food was excellent. The bacon pate was wonderful and the pickled vegetables memorable. The crusted salmon was a great choice.

the oval booth tables are set up to have people sit at the ends, but that’s a tight squeeze. service was friendly but inconsistent ability to get someone’s attention.

This was the worst experience I have had in a decade. When we arrived for our reservation the server took over 10 mins to great us and then did so with her hand full from busing a table and said she would be right back. Another gentleman came by and insisted there was only 1 table for two even though the restaurant was empty so we had to sit right next to another couple. The ledge had so much dust it hadn’t been cleaned in a couple months. The place was freezing they said their heat wasn’t working. The coffee was cold. My breakfast sandwich was so bad I couldn’t take a second bite. The bacon was think and undercooked. My daughter and I were hoping for a great NY breakfast and this was an epic fail. The only thing good was the croissant.

The ambience was classy and the restaurant is decorated really nicely. The service was fantastic. The burrata appetizer was delicious and a little expensive for the food quantity. The skirt steak was about the size of two decks of cards placed side by side on a bed of diced up onions and sauce. It tasted good but was comically small. The non alcoholic drink was the size of a roaring twenties cocktail glass and was $14 which was also super pricey for the quantity of drink. There are better places to go for pre theater dinner and sadly we will not return to the Alderman.

Either the heat was broke or they keep it very chilly - tables were bundled. A different table asked three times about the heat before moving. Their kids fries ring up as $10 but regular fries are $9… figure that one out. It’s all a la carte including the kids meals... So our kid who got a typical chicken tenders (a breaded cutlet), fries, a lemonade ($9) and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream via their ice cream bar cost $50. The sea bass was delicious. Small for $26 but at least tasty. That’s kind of their motto - would I return, probably not. No reason too when for that much $$, we can find many better options in midtown. 2 adults, 1 toddler and total including tip was $270.

Every course was incredible. From the Parker House rolls to the oysters to the skirt steak to the sea bass and the chocolate pudding dessert. WOW! We had a little hiccup in that the back half of the restaurant is very drafty and cold, but they were able to move us to the front half of the restaurant where it was warmer.
