Excellent all round! Been here many times before and have always had a “good” experience, but this time the service was even better. Friendly welcome and attentive throughout. We were booked in at 6.30pm and fully expected to have to vacate the table by 8.30, but refreshingly this was not the case. Will definitely be back. Thank you all.

For starters, my wife had the Ardennes pate with apple chutney. I had the ham hock with pineapple chutney, both serve with a slice of sourdough. The pate was very good, according to her indoors (I don't do pate). I was a bit dubious about the pineapple chutney but couple with the ham this was delicious. And the serving glass was stuffed with ham so a very generous portion. Mains, my wife had the Cajun sweet potato risotto and balsamic onions which was extremely tasty. For myself, I had the grilled salmon, served with samphire, crushed potatoes, and a lobster sauce. Cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned, the lobster sauce having the the right proportion of butteriness and salt to complement the dish. We had originally decided to go for a standard pub grub grill type menu, but I'm so glad we chose The Angel instead. A little bit of originality and imagination in the dishes, and a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

A great selection of dishes, beautifully presented. The seafood squid ink pasta was a delicious choice. The restaurant was immaculate and the tables were well spaced. The log burner gave a lovely atmosphere and the garden area is beautiful too. The menu was great value for the quality of the dishes.

We booked the Angel from a recommendation and we wasn't disappointed. The menu although not large covers all tastes, We easily could have took a blind pick as it all looked amazing. What we did chose was presented well and tasted wonderful. The linen napkins always give me a reassurance the owners care and I genuinely think they do. We would 100% recommend.

A really delicious meal! The nut roast was the best I've ever tasted. Lots of lovely veg and generous portions. A great place for us to stop for lunch on a long journey, much appreciated. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. We didn't have very long to wait for our food, and enjoyed being by the log burner.
