   Slight delay due to a large party. Beyond that the food was superb. Can recommend the baked Spanish tortilla

   We had a lovely meal yesterday evening, all four meals were very tasty. The young waitresses were all very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our dog enjoyed his special doggy meal too 😃

   Sunday lunchtime for my birthday which was really nice. Not too busy. Lovely food and very good service by friendly, attentive staff. Cosy bar with a fire burning.

   It was very cold where we were sitting in the annexe. Had to keep my coat on for the meal.

A fault has been found with our underfloor heating system and we do apologise that the Stables was not as warm and cosy as it should have been on Sunday.     The overall experience of a recent visit to the Angel was a bit disappointing, mostly based on the quality of the food. My pâté starter was ok, but the main (chicken and leek pie with vegetables and mash) was pretty tasteless. My friend’s meal was “fair” but she suffered an upset stomach after eating the Gyozas and chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Setting and service were fine, but all-in-all nothing to rave about for a pre-Christmas festive meal.
