About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighbourhood gem
The Aperture, the first full-scale restaurant project from Chef Jordan Anthony-Brown. The menu reflects the concept of Mediterranean mezze style dining, consisting of many small plates, rustic in nature and reflective of seasonality and creates a natural progression and flow for the dining experience. The Aperture’s menu reflects three fundamental tenets: intention, balance, and focus. The menu - and its individual dishes - are approached with the objective of putting critical thought into every component, eliminating the extraneous, and ensuring a natural flow across the menu. The culinary program is heavily influenced by the cuisine of the broader Mediterranean region and the simple, seasonal cooking of Southern France, Italy, Greece, and the Levant.

Our menu changes often and with the seasons. You can always find our current menu on our website www.theaperturecinci.com.

Service was great. Very energetic environment with interesting minimalist decor. Food was well presented and interesting. To our taste the food was good but not outstanding. Portion size was small, but not unacceptable for small plates. Featured protein in small plates i would characterized as a trace

Amazing, unique dishes, interesting flavor and texture combinations, especially the lamb, lobster pasta and maitake. Great wine and cocktail offerings as well. Waiter was very helpful guiding us to the right choices for both food and drinks. The only thing I didn't love was the white chocolate raspberry dessert with smoked flavor.

excellent variety on the menu. wine list is fair to good and leans towards too many high priced wines.

I was very much looking forward to eating here. The food was incredible…I will say that. The timing of the food, however, was very unfortunate. It took 45 minutes between our second and third course and probably another half hour at least until our fourth course with no communication on why there was a delay. Very disappointed. Also, one of the servers clearing the table was snippy with one of our guests and said leave it please (meaning leave the plate on the table, rather than handed to him).. It was the way he said it. They were also out of bread, only had two dessert options, and only had drip coffee. I can’t believe a restaurant with the reputation this has and as pricey as it is, would not have espresso, cappuccino , French press/more options for desserts. Again, I was very impressed with the food, but that doesn’t make up for the other factors. Perhaps it was an off night.

Very good and interesting food. I would certainly eat there again. They were able to accommodate my wife's vegetarian diet well. I had one small note that did not affect the food. The bar had multiple choices for Gins but they had no higher end traditional London Dry Gins. All except for one of their Gins were botanical style gins. If they could add a nice London Dry Gin such as Sipsmith that would make the visit above and beyond.

One of the best meals we’ve had in a while!! Everything was perfection. The highlights were the carrots and lamb ribs.

Our server, Ana, and the entire staff could not have provided better service. They were attentive without being intrusive. The food was an adventure. With Ana's instruction, we chose 4 items from the menu (one from each section). Starting with the mackerel and toast that was light and delicious. The cucumber and ricotta were new to the menu, an unusual take on cucumber as it was combined. We shared the lamb ribs that were juicy and cooked perfectly and campanelle with lobster and mussels. It had lobster chunks and whole mussels in a beautiful pasta blend. Lastly, we tried pavlova, a savory dessert with a pistachio butter glaze. The more was ate the better we liked it. All of the dishes were new to us, and we enjoyed them all. The decor was minimal, and the restaurant was a bit noisy. We will be going back.

Terry, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind review. It truly means so much to our staff when they are called out by name. I have already shared your kind words with Ana! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed every aspect of what we at The Aperture have to offer. We are always making effort to minimize the noise level as it is a historic building, but there are always room for improvements! Thank you again, we look forward to hosting you in the future. Warm Regards, -The Aperture Management Team
