Welcome to your friend neighborhood bar and sandwich shop. Tucked away on Lafayette Park, just a block from the downtown and seaport neighborhoods of Salem, MA, The Babe is the perfect place to rendezvous after work for a cocktail, grab a bite with friends, or get together for a late night celebration. We take pride in our scratch kitchen with a menu inspired by Northeast sandwich culture and cuisine; touching on fan favorites from Philly to NY, and of course, Boston! Our menu includes specialties like house-ground cheese burgers, loaded Italian subs with freshly sliced salumi, crispy and cheesy mozzarella pockets, crispy wings, and more. The dining room and bar have a casual but intimate feel with high ceilings, updated vintage architectural features, and warm deco-lighting. The Babe also features live performances several nights a week as well as a cozy backyard patio in the warm weather season. I was so looking forward to trying The Babe. It was amazing! We had the cheeseburger, fries and lemon ricotta donuts with delicious jam! Can’t wait to go again.

Went for a valentines 3 course fixed price offering and every thing exceeded expectations. Excellent flavor in every dish served. Wine and food very good value. Sat in back and felt it was better choice than towards front door. Highly recommend

We had a really fun night celebrating new years at The Babe. The drinks were fantastic and the servers were super kind and welcoming. We forgot paper to write our New Year’s resolutions and our server Liv was so sweet and let us use some of hers :)

We made a reservation through OpenTable and were seated promptly. Since it was New Year’s Eve, we opted for an early dinner. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't crowded, with only about 2-4 other tables occupied. The bartender greeted us and brought water to our table right away. We spent about 15 minutes watching what seemed to be the owner or manager discussing the evening’s plans with the only two servers we saw. At one point, I had to ask one of the servers for menus as she passed by. From our view, there was only one cook visible in the open kitchen, and it seemed unlikely that more than two could work in that small space at once. When our meals finally arrived, they did not meet the expectations set by the positive reviews I'd read. My husband and I both ordered the fried chicken sandwich with Carolina Gold sauce and coleslaw on the side. The coleslaw, made with purple cabbage, didn’t look appetizing, and I was glad it was served separately rather than on the sandwich. Our server did check on us a few times and was quick to clear our plates and bring the check. The restaurant's interior looked fantastic, with significant improvements compared to the previous owner. However, based on this experience, I personally won’t be returning.

Our Bartender was excellent! The food was amazing! We got the steak and eggs and the breakfast wrap! Absolutely amazing!! Can’t wait to go back! But the star was the lemon ricotta donuts served warm with homemade jam!!!
