Disappointing. Went for fixed menu for Valentines. Crab dish and sharing bread was lovely. Fillet steak was ok but we were not asked how we would like it cooked so a little over done for us. The cheese fondue course was awful. Not sure why it was included. The cheese was not very Cheesy and the pickles were a bit odd. Desert was ok but no real wow! Service was going through the motions with no real energy or enthusiasm. Took 25 minutes from being seated to getting a drink. We had ordered but then we were asked by another staff member if we wanted a drink from the bar. Not sure what had happened and no apology for the delay. Couldn’t find my coat when leaving. Perhaps put the table number on the hanger. Shouldn’t be difficult! Have been before and it was fantastic, hence the opening remark. They did knock off the price of the fondue course but thats not really the point, you go out for the evening with high expectations wanting all to be perfect and happy to pay for it. When it doesn’t quite hit the mark, it is disappointing.

Nothing better than a walk with the dog over Virginia Water then lunch here! Such a welcoming atmosphere, food to die for, and lovely staff.

The Bailiwick is my favourite local restaurant. The chef has an amazing talent with game and the plates are so interesting and delicious I am always excited to eat there. Game is all from Windsor Great Park. Once they even told me by whom and where the fish I had was caught! The staff are so friendly and dogs welcomed in the bar area. Definitely worth a visit, I would always recommend the a la carte menu over the bar menu even if it is slightly more. They also let you mix and match at lunch (except Sunday I think)

The Bailiwick specialises in game, so this is probably not the place to bring your vegan or veggie friends! However, if you enjoy meat then the food will not disappoint It has a 'country pub' atmosphere, but the food is definitely 'nouvelle cuisine' in its presentation. We took two of our friends there who we know enjoy fine dining and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It would be a great place to bring overseas visitors. An nice little 'amuse-bouche'; freshly baked bread with home made butter; the starters were excellent (I had their take on a Cullen Skink and it was very substantial - it would have made a decent lunch in its own right!) and the mains are really interesting. Two of our party had the Windsor Great Park Red Deer - presented in four separate ways - I had Teal (never had it before) which was again presented in a number of ways - melt in the mouth breasts just barely cooked; a miniature 'cottage pie', etc. Limited vegetables, so maybe share a side? The serving staff explained all the dishes and were attentive without being intrusive. I would say the only slight disappointment was some of the desserts; the 'Tiramisu' was really just a chocolate mousse with a dark chocolate coating. It was fine, but I like the traditional Italian Tiramisu, but maybe that was me! Conversely, one of our friends had the sticky toffee doughnuts which they said were delicious, so I may have that next time, although in truth two courses would have been sufficient, especially if you have a side of vegetables. We spent £334 in total for 3-courses for 4 people including drinks and service, which we agreed was reasonable for the quality and the presentation of the food and the overall experience. One final comment: the restaurant is very 'dog friendly' so that may be a positive or a negative for some people.

Great service, really made to feel welcome and well looked after. Traditional British fare, well cooked and presented - puts many other local pubs and restaurants to shame. Just be sure to park in Saville Gardens and walk up to the pub. It’s worth it.
