We had made a booking for food and drinks on a Saturday night. When we got to the restaurant we were told that they couldn’t serve food because their chef was feeling ill, which is understandable but it would have been nice if we were emailed about it in advance or the booking had been cancelled. We were really hungry and tired and had to go look for another restaurant that could still fit us in. The staff didn’t seem very sorry about the situation.

Not a good experience. We had some calamari for starters, it was totally overcooked. The same could be said for all the main courses. When the bar tender asked how the food was and we said not great he just shrugged his shoulders and said sorry to hear that. Certainly won’t be going back.

Went as website suggested that it was a family friendly pub. Booked a table for 6 (2kids) at 5.30pm. Our table had been given away given another which was high barstools back to back with another table. Asked at the bar for menus, got pointed towards another table that had some. No kids menu so went back to ask for that. Was told they don’t do kids menu. I said that there was one on their website and was told that they don’t know why it’s on there and no control over the content. They were not in the least bit helpful so we left. Might be a great place for a drink but certainly not family friendly

The food was good - we ordered starters and main courses. The starters arrived quickly but after an hour, we asked the bar for our main courses - to be told by an extremely rude member of staff that the kitchen was busy. We think they had lost our order - as lots of people who came in after us had their order! The food eventually arrived after another 40 minutes, with no apology. When I went to pay the bill, we had been charged an £6 extra for each bottle of wine. When I queried this, I was told 'that is what you have been drinking, so that is the price'. When I said we had ordered a different Sauvignon Blanc and showed them on the drinks menu - the staff member refused to alter the bill and told me to 'just pay your bill'! In summary, good food - when you get it, but the attitude of staff is appalling. There are lots of other good bars in the area - so go there instead.

The food was very overpriced. My partner and friend had crispy chicken burgers. They were extremely disappointed. The bun was a lot smaller than a standard bun, chicken slightly overcooked, no garnish. Portion of chips was small. Aioli was tasty. I had the steak and ale pie which was tasty but a bit too much crust. We love the pub but will not be back for food in a hurry which is a shame since the food has been good in the past.

Went here a few of times before 2021 and it was a lovely, great, cosy, warm and welcoming local pub - the food used to also be really good quality. Not anymore sadly. We visited early July 2024 and not only was the service pretty basic, we weren't given a menu, no warm welcome, no smiles, dirty table. Should've just had a pint here instead and left. The Balmoral Chicken was pretty poor and overpriced too for the quality. The plate was also freezing cold which made the food cold. The bacon on the chicken looked pink and anemic rather than golden brown. The mash was bland and tasteless as were the 1980s style carrots and unseasoned broccoli. The entire plate looked like something served on a trolley in a care home, possibly worse. Sorry but we won't be returning in a hurry.

Food was good but service was terrible. Cold coffee and an attitude when asked if we could have it hotter and the sachet of sugar was thrown at us. Charming.
