Serving fresh, bold and innovative food that reflects the history of New Bedford and celebrates the New Bedford fishermen, their catch and their culture.

Our menu focuses on local fishermen’s catch of the day, old school seafood favorites and a sprinkling of modern seafood interpretations. Menu ranges from raw bar, to warm and cold lobster rolls, baked cod, bacon wrapped scallops, bouillabaisse and grilled NY Strip.

Large bar and spectacular views of the artful New Bedford Fishing Fleet. Large covered and heated deck overlooking the fishing boats and harbor. Centrally located beside the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Ferries. Large parking lot.

And, of course, the hospitality is second to none. Service is what built the business.

Waitress was fantastic! They made me a special cod fish with Mozambique and it was delicious! I am hoping to see it on the special menu soon and then make the everyday menu in the future. Great time!

We had Emma as our server. She was friendly & very helpful with out dinner choices. We started with coconut shrimp & for our entrees, I got the rack of lamb with chipotle mashed sweet potato & grilled asparagus. So amazing! And my husband got the chicken alla vodka also amazing. Emma assisted us in choosing a nice Portuguese wine, silk & spice. It was delicious & smooth. We are frequent flyers at the Black Whale and for a very good reason. Top quality Food & amazing staff! Always a great experience! Thank you! Rachel & Jim
