The Boathouse is a waterfront, seafood Restaurant, bar and takeaway. We’re situated overlooking the Mayflower Steps and just a stone’s throw from Plymouth’s historic Barbican.

Our speciality is local fish and shellfish, sustainably caught, by our own day boats, The Sidney Rose, The Barbican Rose and the Elin D. The Scallop Shack at The Boathouse serves fresh, South West, scallops, in a variety of mouthwatering ways.

There’s also a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes and a little nipper’s menu, designed for younger salty sea dogs – all made with fresh, seasonal produce.

The Boathouse is the perfect spot for cosy coffees and delicious dining from daytime through to evening. With our retractable roof for sunnier days you can dine with us, alfresco and enjoy wonderful, waterside views.

Delicious food, we had the seafood platter which was plenty for two, would have been nice to have a little less fish and more shell fish for the price but the overall experience was really great, we thoroughly enjoyed our food, staff were great and we will definitely be back!

Food excellent. Dining experience not good for the following reason. Table booked on-line and confirmed for Saturday 2nd September 19:30 hours. The Boathouse Restaurant website clearly states that last orders for food on a Saturday night is 21:00 hours and a booked table and service is for up to one hour and forty five minutes. We arrived on time and ordered the main course, omitting the starters. Finished the main course at approximately 20:20 hours. Server did not ask if we would like to order a dessert. Without requesting it the bill was brought to the table. When we asked if we could order a dessert at approximately 20:30 hours we were told that last orders for food were at 20:00 hours. This was rather disappointing bearing in mind the restaurant website clearly states that last food orders on a Saturday night are at 21:00 hours.

The food was ok but Grilled Whole Sardines were outstanding. The restaurant has only 3 toilets ( 1 for disabled +2 mixed) and queue is long sometimes.

A few issues with the service. Got our order mixed up and scrapped plates in front of us when collecting the plates. Live singer was way too loud for the small area.

Very poor customer service. The server was very blunt when taking our order and didn't have basic manners - no please or thank you. After we'd said what we wanted sure just walked off, which is very rude. We had to go to the bar to pay as our attempts to catch someone went unnoticed. Food was okay, but the toast served with breakfast was very hard and dry.

We had a lovely breakfast in the morning, then met family whom were visiting from Scotland, We went on one of the nice 1 hour site seeing boat trips around the docks etc, and then at 2pm we All sat down for a lovely lunch!. The food was fantastic, and again the service second to none. Thank you All at the Boathouse for a lovely happy day!...

I did enjoy my meal at the boathouse, service was lovely, and the food was yum, only let down by expensive pricing, compared to last year anyway it seemed, and the noise of the music was a little high. would go again, just would be more aware of cost.
