   The staff were attentive and helpful (when engaged), but seemed to be overloaded e.g. it was an effort to get their attention. The decor is unusual... just delightful if you like the stuffed heads of African wildlife looming over your dining table. The chef is clearly making an effort to present his food attractively; but aren't teetering towers a little 'yesterday'? My fried crispy duck (salad) and softshell crab both tasted the same - old fryolator oil. My mother's cod was certainly overcooked and looked like it had been frozen at some point on its journey from ocean to Burcot. Disappointed, will not go back. Will warn-off friends and family.

   Loveless, tasteless food. They should rather limit the choice and focus on taste. I had a chicken paté which tasted only of pepper, came with some awful onion jam that didn’t work with the paté and some ordinary, rather soggy toast. The crispy pork belly was just unseasoned chunks of pork belly thrown into the deep fat fryer. A friend had a chicken breast caesar salad with tough, dry chicken and a horrible ready made dressing. Another friend had what they called the World’s best Fish & Chips and it was rather ordinary and less than average in quality.

   Quite frankly, this is the best place in Oxfordshire to eat quality food in a tremendous setting with amazing staff. This is my go to place when I want a business lunch, celebration dinner or family get together.
