Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

    Normally not one to write negative reviews, and I have been here before with all positive experiences but tonight our food took over an hour to come out. 2 out of the 4 steaks came out med-well to well done and we’re supposed to be medium rare. Also wasn’t hot but luke warm like it had been sitting in the window in the kitchen for some time. Spoke with the manager and he was nice and apologized and said discount would be given. For the time it took to get our food it just didn’t make up for it unfortunately. Was frustrated with this experience.

    Wow--what a fantastic place! We went to brunch on a Sunday after dress shopping (another great experience--the Ivory Room) and we will absolutely be back. We live an hour away, but this is a meal worth driving for. The egg/chicken sandwich was one of the absolute best sandwiches we had ever had (the garlic aioli sauce--yum!) Two of our party had the stuffed french toast and can't wait to go back for more. Honestly, frittata, gravy and biscuits--and those scones--truly amazing. It is also so important to note the beautiful restaurant and the incredible service. It is rare to have a total experience where everything was exceptional.

    Great food, great service! Grace was fantastic. We had to leave dinner early and they were so accommodating, boxed and bagged our dinners quickly!

    My short rib was excellent! However, the petite filet my wife received, although prepared to her liking, was much smaller than previous times and was more salty than to her preference.

    City Square is the best place to eat in Wooster. It is well prepared food. I have had brunch and dinner there several times since I moved to Wooster.
