Tonight was not busy. Perhaps half full? There seemed to be plenty of staff.
However the service was poor and extremely slow!
Drinks took forever on the first order. If anything water should be the first item on the table. Wine bottles were placed on the table and it was a few minutes later that glasses came.
We were booked for 7pm. The last time we commented to each other about how slow our starters were was 8:20pm. Far too long to wait for a few starters.
My mother ordered a vegetarian burger. But yet her Caesar salad starter came out with chicken? It wasn’t ordered as extra chicken. I never checked the bill either as my husband paid.
I ordered Chicken supreme. My entire dish was saturated in garlic. I never order a garlic dish as it doesn’t agree with me. The creamed potatoe was just full of garlic flavour. I actually couldn’t eat it all. Chicken cooked well but unfortunately soaked in garlic with sliced garlic on top. Totally overpowering.
Steaks ordered seemed cooked per requests.
We had asked for a birthday candle to be put into my adult daughters dessert when ordered. We chose not to take in a cake and a few have desserts instead. The dessert came with no candle even though we’d spoken to staff on arrival. At this stage the restaurant was quiet…so being too busy was not an excuse.
We asked for the candle to come and be lit which staff did… just to mark the occasion.
At our table not only did we have a birthday girl and my parents, but we had visitors from America-one being their first time in Ireland. This poor/slow and lack of attention to detail was noticed and critised by them also.
Such a shame as it’s a beautiful restaurant.
This is not the first time I’ve felt the service slow, but the first time I felt obliged to put pen to paper. For the record, €450 for a family meal doesn’t come easy to us. It was a very special occasion with visitors, birthday and Christmas. It didn’t feel like money well spent at all. Hope next time is better.
