   It’s a delight to dine here. The ambience still resonates its glamorous 1930’s roots and the food is always delicious. It’s a staple whenever we’re in Palm Springs.

   I'm writing mainly because of, at one level, a minor issue, but something that really irked us. We went here for lunch yesterday, and ordered shakshuka (plus salads to start) to share that came with one slice of grilled toast to dip in (for probably three to four cups of) the sauce. So I ordered another slice of toast. When the bill arrived, the charge was literally $5 for toast plus $3 for rye bread. So $8 for one slice of bread. Nothing in restaurants is inexpensive these days but still this struck me as exploitative. And given the overall cost of a vacation, or even the cost of the lunch, $8 is rounding error. I let the server know and she was very nice and agreed with me that the charge was ridiculous but that was what the chef insisted on! So a perfectly nice lunch became a bad experience. As we were getting ready to leave, another server came up to us and asked how our lunch experience was. I recounted the above. He too was embarrassed and immediately refunded $8. Make of this what you will but we won't be back.

   We took our family to The Colony Club for brunch on Christmas Day! The staff were amazing and the food was incredible. They also called on the front end to verify we wanted brunch and not the prie fixe Christmas Day menu. We had a wonderful time and always do. Thank you!

   Perhaps it was because it was Christmas Eve, but the service was completely subpar. For example - upon being seated, it took nearly 10 minutes to be recognized by waitstaff. Then, after ordering water and drinks, it took another 10 minutes - and consulting a manager - to receive. After nearly every course, silverware was picked up but new silverware was not sent out. I would say service was slow because of the holiday, but the first and second course were delivered to the table at the same time - without silverware for either. Despite these obvious problems, there was no recognition from management.

    To start. It was so dark and There were no streetlights. we had a very hard time finding the restaurant. Next the noise level was so.loud due to women at the bar. We couldn't hear ourselves talk. We love octopus and order it wherever we go. This had to be the most tasteless and rubbery octopus that we have ever had. We sent it back and it was replaced with the tomato and burrata salad. The tomatoes were wonderful but the burrata was so salty that we couldn't eat it. Our entrees were well prepared. We had the salmon and halibut. Both were perfectly done. Although the front of house staff was excellent and accommodating, service was very very slow. There must be a problem in the kitchen. I.just dont understand all the great reviews
