About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Dog-friendly
  • Good for groups
After closing for 2 weeks for an interior refurb the pub now has a fresh and clean new look. The creation of a proper snug is part of the change and is available for private hire for small gatherings or family occasions. The rear barn has also undergone refurbishment and is now a wonderful room dating back to the 15th Century with oak beams and flagstone floor folding doors open out on to the rear courtyard and river Stour beyond. The barn forms part of the restaurant but can also be made available for small functions and parties of up to 20 - 25 people.

Lovely place to have lunch. Our waitress, Louise was so helpful and attentive which made our experience very enjoyable. Food was good, there was a nice range of food available and we didn't have to wait long and were not rushed at all. Would definitely go back again.

I took my mum to The Crispin Inn for Mother's Day yesterday, as it came highly recommended, and I was really looking forward to trying their food. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. When the starter arrived, there was a hair in one of our meals, which had to be sent back. While this was quickly resolved, it set a negative tone for the rest of the meal. When the main courses arrived, I was surprised by the small portion size of the roast dinner. I had expected a bowl of vegetables to accompany it, but that wasn’t the case. The meal didn’t feel like good value for money. The roast potatoes tasted stale, as if they had been sitting out for a long time, and didn’t taste fresh at all. I feel the menu is over priced for what you are getting. Throughout the meal, one of the waitresses seemed to repeatedly forget our requests—whether it was for drinks, to find out information about the menu or the dessert menu. The service felt lacking. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

We were a bit disappointed. Cold , roast dinners not hot, beef chewy, all 4 yorkshires burnt which we asked to be replaced only to be replaced with almost the same. Vegetables were sparse on the plate with one carrot each and a dessert spoon of cabbage. Horse radish sauce looks like a cheap supermarket brand. Roast potatoes were good, albeit not hot. Desserts are good and staff friendly and helpful. Photography on this site is a little misleading. Sadly, we would not return. Overall, it was very mediocre.

First time visiting and eating here at the Crispin Inn. A delightful old pub with a very traditional menu that is perfect for my taste. Service was friendly and very personable and we will definitely be returning

We were visiting for the day and booked online. We wanted to change our seating area from the Boathouse to the main bar and the staff were extremely flexible. Service was friendly. We had the Sunday roast and it was lovely. Puddings were amazing too. Our pugs enjoyed their pigs in blankets. Wish we lived closer 🤣. Definitely recommend.
