Delicious food! My palate was definitely satiated. The brisket tacos and grilled Shitake mushrooms were amazing. I look forward to my next dining experience at The Crouching Lion. I don’t mind driving the distance!

We made reservations two weeks prior we got there sat down with menus. We had already looked all day at what we wanted to eat there and we glanced over it once more at the table and when we ordered our waiter told us everything we wanted they don’t have he gave us limited options that they did have and it killed the experience cause we knew all day what we were going to order and we couldn’t. Then he came back and told us they didn’t even have some of the things we did order from the already limited options. The entire right side of the menu for main entres was unavailable literally the entire side which includes every steak nothing was available we sat down at 7:30. It sucked we looked forward to that meal all day drove all the way out there to be let down. The food we did get was good but ya it wasn’t what we wanted just kind of had to make do with.

We ordered several dishes - oysters, clams, crispy spicy ahi, hamakua mushrooms, grilled squid, and the umi pasta. All were ok/good - nothing that "WOW'd" me or my husband. The best part of this restaurant is the service and the ambiance. It was really pretty and our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The cost was very expensive, but we figured we'd splurge for Valentine's day. It was very nice that they provided us with a free chocolate rose for making our reservation early.

As and experience of Oahu restaurants, this was not my favorite. Althought the prices were good for Hawaii, I found the food less than inspiring, especially for Robata grill work. Seasoining or even salt was non existent in the Shrimp or vegetables we had. The mahi had more of a fish taste that I expect for restaurant of this caliber - I can get better tasting Mahi at about any strip mall in Kaneohe than what I had here. I will say the ube(purple sweet potato) and the corn onthe cob was the standout dishes. The ube was cooked perfectly, allowing the chestnut overtones in the potato to shine through. The corn on the cob is also amazing, seasoned with only pepper. I would order the Corn before anything else however. One of our two corns came out at the same time we were offered the meager ice cream choices left for dessert. Unfortunately due to bad planning on the reatuarant's part over the Valentine's day weekend, all of the desserts and half the robata menus were not available. How they handle duck, beef or or chicken is unknown as they were completely out of them. The ambience was, especially for a Valentine's Weekend, perfect. The beuatiful view of the ocean looking over the calm shore with waves breaking farther from shore was mesmerizing. The service was attentive, and the building was well decorated in lion themes in reflection of the name and the rock formation looming over the restaurant.

The service from our waitress was excellent but you had no steaks this evening and that's what I wanted to order but you did have prime rib so I ordered that medium rare and when it came out it was medium well. Showed our waitress and she had another one made in the kitchen and that one was obvious the cook pulled it right out of the Chiller and right on to the grill because when I got it it was medium rare, hot on the outside cold on the inside. Our waitress is the only reason we'll go back again and give him one more chance but any of the things pride in his work knows you never take a piece of me from the chiller right to the grill. The meat rests to come down to room temperature for even cooking. Restaurant looks great and the views are still amazing

We have been here before and had a good experience but today for the amount of money we always spend here was disappointing. From getting our main dish before our shareables to most of the menu items unavailable. And the prime rib steak containing mostly fat. We were disappointed and unfortunately the tip showed it.

I am reminded once again why one should never go out on valentines. Overbooked and out of quite a few things.

Valentine’s Day dinner was extremely busy for the restaurant. Did not get seated on time for our reservation made a month in advance. Heard restaurant overbooked! Seemed wait-help was short staffed because our waiter served so many tables by himself. We expected steak dinners, and was told no steaks, lamb & chicken available for the night, due to issue with their grill (how very disappointing). The scallop entree was more of an appetizer portion and very small in size. Overpriced. Was told foods will be served “family style”, meaning foods we ordered will come out whenever it’s ready as two kitchens were cooking at the same time. Our side order to the scallop entree came out first, then the appetizer, then the scallops, then another side order, then the 2nd entree. It felt all over the place, we did not quite enjoy the “family style” service. If anyone is looking for a traditional dinner where appetizer is first then entrees, this is not the place. All side orders are priced separately from the entrees, so expect to pay more. Dessert menu quite basic and limited, we passed on it. We would’ve expected a special valentine dessert. We did get to enjoy the alcohol drinks, ambiance, ocean views and the fully renovated restaurant. Very nicely done. Not sure if we’ll be returning if the service will be “family style” serving :(
