The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9.
We serve modern British food in a friendly informal environment using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We create dishes from scratch, including homemade bread, fish from the surrounding seas and seasonal veg.
We serve local real ales & craft beers, wine and a specialist gin and whisky selection and delicious coffee.
'High Top Tables' refers to our high tables with bar stools.
You can book a table for drinks only.
Dogs are welcome, 'paws on the floors' please.
Children welcome, we have a kids menu.
For allergies & intolerances, please let your server know before ordering.
We serve our full menu on a Sunday, but it is not a traditional roast dinner.
Please call us if you are running later than your booked time.
Table bookings for 2 hours for up to 4ppl; 3 hours for 5+ people. Tables from 7pm onwards are for whole evening.

    Bearing in mind I personally give fives for completely unmatched experiences (so a four overall is excellent and very, very good). Pigs in blankets with the venison was a particular highlight!

    The meal was lovely; I’m not sure there was another dish I would have wanted so maybe the menu was a bit limited for me, but there were interesting options for fish and vegetarian choices and knowing the food is sustainable and locally sourced is always good. I’m guessing the menu changes regularly. The wine was very appealing. The service was excellent, informal and friendly. I’d definitely eat there again.

    Great pub experience, plates were scraped clean, value on the high end, but worth while. Let down was lack of knowledge around bar drinks. On the whole a lovely Sunday out with friends

    Arrived alittle early, had a drink in the snug by the open fire. Staff called me when the table was ready and escorted me to the table. Food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and managed to look after me during a busy period.

    The pub is very relaxed and friendly, but the food is the main event! Fantastic, tasty and delicious! Maybe a little limited choice but wow, definitely packed with flavour, fresh and exciting!
