The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Our favorite place to celebrate for any reason! We have tried many local restaurants and DelBar is hands down our family’s go to! The food and service cannot be beat!

The food was excellent, but the service felt overly rehearsed, with a strong focus on upselling the menu & rushing us through. Our server asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, we mentioned it was our anniversary. While we appreciated being informed about our options, the interaction was awkward, so we ultimately just left without asking for dessert.

The ribeye was cooked medium rare as ordered, aged to perfection, not too much char and hardly any gristle, plus bone marrow butter was the bomb. The seared jumbo scallops with roasted mushrooms, squash, and bacon melted in your mouth. The appetizers were delicious (escargot, oysters Rockefeller, asparagus tempura, cheese curds) as well as the sides (cheesy hash browns with onion, spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, and cauliflower mash).

We had a fabulous anniversary dinner at the Del Bar. From a champagne toast to the peanut butter cream pie, each mouthful was outstanding. Our server, Charlie was the right kind of attentive. My grilled halibut was so delicious. My husband enjoyed his pork chop. What a great place to dine!
