Richard, Beth and Team are delighted to welcome you their charming, 18th Century Pub, The Dumb Post Inn, a picturesque village pub situated in the village of Bremhill, with good links to the stunning City of Bath.

Conveniently situated between Calne and Chippenham, with beautiful views over the nearby Bowood estate, The Dumb Post is an award winning, traditional country gastropub, offering quality cask ales and exceptional home cooked food using locally sourced ingredients.

Family owned since 2009, but only managed by the family since 2019, Richard stepped away from his career as an aircraft engineer, to protect this much loved pub and to ensure that The Dumb Post could run to its potential.

Richard and Beth both grew up in Bremhill and are driven by a passion for the area as well as this historic, family owned pub. They take enormous pride in offering the best local produce available, including the family farm for their supply of lamb and beef.

First of all, my food was fine. Nothing special, but okay. My wife's however was not great. The chicken was dry and the whole dish over salted. Her dessert was covered in nutmeg which, given it was a custard tart, was too much. This however, was not our main issue. We arrived promptly for our table but were asked to just go and find it. We then waited for 20 minutes just for the menus. I had to go and ask for them. Once we had ordered, we waited over an hour for our food. I was at the point of paying our drinks bill and leaving, but it was my wife's birthday (a fact they knew) and I didn't want to have to resort to fish and chip from the local takeout. They did apologise for the delay when they finally brought it, but given that my wife's food was not great, it didn't made up for it. This was a Monday night, and the place was busy and noisy. I can only assume they were short staffed, but that doesn't make it okay.

We went for the Sunday lunch to celebrate my friend's 80th birthday. The meal was quite tasty, although the lamb and Yorkshire puddings were a little over done, the parsnip was underdone, and it would have been nice to have some crackling on the pork as well as a couple more potatoes. The chicken was perfect. The coffee was outstanding and the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream were unctuous and ample (although it would have been nice to have a little more butterscotch sauce). I would have given a bigger tip if they could have arranged a birthday candle or some token to make my friend's birthday a little bit special as I had noted it down on the reservation in advance.

Haven’t visited the pub for food in a while. Food was spot on and delicious. Unfortunately, service was poor and waited quite a while for our table to be cleared, have our orders taken and provide us with the bill

Fantastic food served and excellent service for a steak night. We all throughly enjoyed our food. One point. We were served our mains before our starters were finished which meant my partner had to rush to eat his starter so the main could be placed. We will definitely be returning!

Was put on a table for 6 rather than a table for 2 as requested. No sirloin steaks left as we arrived. There are no plates for starters. The food was exceptional.
