Welcome to The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which is situated near the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff.

Due to the style of cooking we cannot produce dairy free menus & therefore cannot provide vegan options.

A deposit is required to make reservations on special days of the year, on our special events, or for tables of 6 or more. This is paid over the phone by calling 01803 200044.

Children's menu is only available at lunch for ages 10 and under.

Tasting menu only available in the evening unless requested via phone in advance.

    We are never disappointed and always look to try something different. For example plaice with (among others) chestnuts, Duck with turnip and rhubabrb. Both excellent. service always spot on, and on Christmas Eve they were very busy.

    An outstanding lunch for our Anniversary. From the moment we arrived the visit became special, the staff attention to detail was a delight and the lunch tasting menu was perfect with the accompanying wine flight. The staff were amazing - never there until they were needed but attentive and efficient around every course,then they disappeared again! Wonderful. A perfect enue that has been a delight on every visit!

    Exquisite service from start to finish. Food was excellent Definitely Michelin star quality. Duck breast and venison were cooked to perfection. Very tender and so many flavours. High standards all round. First visit and will definitely return Highly recommended!

    Roomy restaurant. Excellent service. Tasting menu was excellent. Wines were reasonably priced. For my taste the desserts could have been a bit more adventurous but everyone has a different view. Will certainly go back and would recommend the experience to anyone

    Entertaining ride as you are taken along your tasting menu meal, each course exquisitely conceived and executed. Would also recommend the wine flight where the sommelier pairs wines excellently and knowledgably and, again, you can enjoy the ride. Was for my Wife's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Also received a birthday card and birthday dessert. We were in there nearly 4 hours and time flew by and it's nice to enjoy an evening rather than feel or be rushed in and out.

    Contemporary decor - look out for the snakes in the ladies. Knowledgeable and attentive staff Excellent food and wine - justifiably a Michelin star Definitely would recommend it.

    Our second visit to this lovely restaurant, this time with our younger son and his partner. Another enjoyable evening, absolutely faultless.
