The Elgin is a bar & restaurant serving upscale fare situated just south of Rockefeller Center & steps from Broadway & Times Square. Our goal is to provide sophisticated cocktails, a carefully curated craft & seasonal beer list, amazing food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Please join us!
The Elgin’s 4 main principals, Peter Pernicone, Darwin Conner, Paul Baum & Christine Trauben, have known each other for 30 years. They all grew up on the lower west side of NYC in Chelsea & had a goal of owning a bar together & could not be more excited about opening The Elgin. As an acknowledgment of their collective history, they named a signature cocktail—the Chelsea 1724—after their neighborhood. Darwin & Paul grew up in Chelsea on 17th St and Peter & Christine lived on 24th St. They are joined by Patrick Callaghan who has been working with Peter for many years.

    Really enjoyed the cheeseburger egg rolls, sloppy joe empanadas, avocado toast and pizza. Great service from the moment we arrived until we left. The manager was very accommodating.

    The food here is low quality bar food and came out cold. Think airport food. There are too many other options in NYC. The service was slow and overall was such a disappointment.

    Elgin was a 10, great food, service, cocktails and service. Would definitely go back. The tuna nachos were amazing, the pigs in blanket were the best. French dip, phenomenal. The bread was so fresh!

    This could have been a 5-star review, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by an incident with the hostess. While waiting at our table for my friend to return from the bathroom and collect his work bag and coat, the hostess approached me and asked if I could leave so she could seat other guests. We were still within our allotted time, and I couldn't manage both my friend's belongings and mine. This request left us feeling quite uncomfortable. Although the hostess apologized repeatedly, it didn't change the fact that her request was inappropriate. On a positive note, the food was excellent, and our server provided great service. However, this incident overshadowed our visit. In the future, I hope the staff will consider their actions more carefully to avoid such unprofessional behavior.
