We celebrated Valentines Day with a delicious meal in a lovely setting. We opted for the 3-course meal (starter, entree and dessert). Both entrees were quite good. The lamb shank was the clear favorite. The game pate was a bit disappointing. It was very mild and the bread that accompanied the dish was rock hard. Service was friendly and attentive. Eating out on Valentines Day can be problematic, but the Elkridge Furnace Inn did a fantastic job.

What a gem. We have lived near the Inn for over a year now and we just got around to eating here. What a mistake. A wonderful experience and atmosphere. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. This will be a place not only we return to, but bring family and friends. This restaurant was fantastic!

Always love the food at Elkridge Furnace Inn! Locally grown and sourced vegetables, delicious, and beautifully presented. Our server even asked, when first introducing himself, if we were celebrating a special occasion. A night at this restaurant is a special occasion.

We went to celebrate a birthday. Good service and nice atmosphere. Food quality was inconsistent. One on our party ordered two items that were not edible. They had a salad that was so bitter it was spit out. Others tried it at table and found same. It was replaced with a vegetable medley that looked like baby food and tasted like dirt. Oh well. The rest of our party had excellent food.
The Elkridge Furnace InnResponded on 8 February 2025
Thank you for sharing a birthday with us, Joe! We are glad you enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Since we often serve ingredients that are both seasonal and not quite as common, choices might be somewhat out of the ordinary for our guests. Our grilled Treviso Salad might fall into that category. A member of the chicory family, Treviso is a variety of radicchio with slightly bitter tasting leaves. We are sorry this wasn't to your liking. Also, with our executive chef's French training, purées are more common. The root vegetable "mash" is just that. And, yes, root vegetables can be quite earthy. We use potatoes, carrots, golden beets, turnips and parsnips. We are glad our manager was able to address your concerns and add a complimentary dessert to add to your celebration!

We are longtime diners at Elkridge Furnace Inn. My husband has always loved it since they often serve non-traditional meats on their menu. I enjoy for the most part the food but truly enjoy the historic atmosphere of the restaurant. Last night I had the "Cream of Baltimore" soup, and have to say, I was not a fan. There were so many flavors in the soup (over complicated in my opinion) that you could barely taste any seafood component. I really enjoyed the entrée of the Bistro Filet - it was perfectly prepared and delicious. We introduced the restaurant to another couple, and they really enjoyed our visit and the food. Highly recommend.
The Elkridge Furnace InnResponded on 8 February 2025
Just catching up on our many reviews, we would like to thank you for your recent visit, Steve, and thank you for recommending us to your friends. Chef's Signature Cream of Baltimore Soup is normally quite the crowd pleaser, but we do understand the surprising twist of curry and sweet potato notes diverge from the traditional. We do like to beat to a different drummer to create new Culinary Adventures and are always glad when folks enjoy the music. Thanks again for your faithful patronage!
