   Food menu now very limited, food we had was OK but nothing special. The service however was excellent with very friendly and efficient staff. Convenient for attending a a show at the Empire or the Fire Station but with the increasing number of good restaurants nearby the Engine Room will have to improve its offerings for us to return to eat there.

   There was no roast potatoes and only one portion of the turkey special which we both wanted. My mother in laws roast chicken was crispy on the outside of the breast which she didn’t like. We were rushing off to the theatre and were disappointed. There was not enough light in the area we were in, I had to use my phone to read the menu. We didn’t choose a dessert due to our experience. The waitress was very apologetic about it all and gave us a discount

   Surprised there was no Mashed potato on the Sunday Lunch. It was nice though. The dessert (Sticky toffee pudding with custard) was to die for. 4 dinners 4 desserts with 5 diet cokes and a shandy came to £120. I really thought this was a bit expensive.

   Great atmosphere, lovely service. Food was great. Steak cooked to perfection. Girls who served us were lovely.

   Lovely place food and service but very cold most people sat with their coats on. Not good when eating and drinking for a couple of hours

   The service was quite slow, we were sat probably for 10 minutes before being asked if we would like some drinks. We both ordered the Sunday lunch. When it arrived, it looked like it had been standing about for a while. The food was luke warm, the winter vegetables were bendy, the roast potatoes were a hard outer cover with mash inside. The sweet potato mash was lost in the gravy. The only decent thing on the plate was the chicken. For desert I had a round piece of cake surrounded with caramel sauce. They had the nerve to call it Sticky Toffee Pudding. I would like to see the recipe! The two minute supermarket microwave pudding is better. The wine was quite nice too. All in all, not a well spent £75.

    Very nice venue for a casual pre-theatre meal. Tasty food and friendly efficient service.
