Arrived at 18.50 for table for 6 people booked for 19.00. Two of our party were yet to arrive so we were seated & menus provided. At 18.57 were told that the kitchen was closing at 19.00hours & we needed to place our order. The last two in our group arrived at 18.59 & had to order their food immediately. We were then told, after querying about ordering dessert for after our mains, that it was an error by the person serving us & apologies were made. Had already asked to speak to someone in management who eventually arrived & also apologised. A free round of drinks was offered & accepted but as we had travelled by 2 cars & only 3 of us had alcohol, the free round amounted to approximately 10% of the final bill for food. The food arrived fairly quickly & during the meal, it was noticeable that staff were continually passing by the table & when seen were offering apologies that had already been expressed. The food itself was good but for the prices charged I would have expected slightly better (the pork was very fatty & only minimal meat was on the plate). The dessert was better although there were lumps in the custard & its was only just warm. It left us with a feeling that everything was done in a bit of a hurry hence the kitchen closing early. Would have preferred that the table was cancelled in advance or better still don't offer tables this late. Generally disappointing especially for what we paid.
