I’ve embark upon quite a few Afternoon Teas at high end establishments and this was by far the most underwhelming experience for the price/value received. There was a wait even with a reservation. It took an additional 10 mins once sat to get waited on. For the price paid, the food was small in portion, and then there was also an issue with parking. Magically, none of their credit card machines were working to take payment and I was told they were out of money to make any other transactions so we had to pay cash at the garage which was highly inconvenient as we carry primarily cards. The only thing that saved this experience was the afternoon entertainment with their Valentine’s Day violist. The performers were excellent. It was just everything else that left more to be desired. I will not be returning nor recommending this place as a spot for afternoon tea. There are far superior luxury hotels who actually should be charging the rate the Palace hotel is and their entire experience is way better. I left driving home in silence just confused and disappointed about the entire experience.

Greg the operations manager made outstanding efforts to make sure we still left with a pleasant experience despite a delay in the staff bringing out our food.

The woman checking us in was not very friendly. They were waiter was perfect. The food was very good. It did take a while to get waited on and the place settings were missing things but overall it was a great experience.

Our cocktails were good. The ceiling was beautiful. Thats where the good ended. The food seemed dried out as if it was sitting under the heat lamp for an hour. Severely understaffed.

We went for the beauty of the setting including the beautiful skylight whose pattern somewhat reflects Frank Loyd Wright type design. THAT is the value of the restaurant!!! We waiting for a very long time to get our menus and too long for the waiter to take the order. Once receiving our food, the remainder of the service was good. The fish seems to have been prepared well in advance and then warmed. The vegetables were excellently prepared (not soft and overdone). I think we paid $80 for a straightforward lunch order. Two entres with no drinks, no soup, no salad and no coffee. Value? You decide.

One of the better choice for buffet breakfast. The food quality is not as good as it used to be. They now offer dimsum but it looks like it was from frozen premade supermarket product

Best cup of coffee, fresh bread for the toast, and perfectly crisped bacon. Staff made us feel very welcomed.

Nightmare. Seated in a nearby restaurant, not the garden terrace. Sat for 10 minutes before anyone even offered coffee and had to hunt her down to pay the check. The most attention we got was to lets us know, yet again, that our food was coming any minute now. How long can it take to make pancakes??? Admittedly they were great pancakes. To top it all off there was some drunken guy at the table next to us watching videos on speaker while the staff kept serving him drinks. Outside of the delicious food it was the saddest eating experience I have ever had in San Francisco in 27 years. Recommendation: don’t bother.
