Very little available on the menu. Expensive burgers and charged for adult pudding when my 8 year old ordered it from the children’s menu.

We booked 2 tables for 5 of us and was put at opposite ends of the room. It took an hour to get our meal and the veg was cold. My friend on the other table couldn’t eat her fish as it was dark brown and dry so it was sent back and as their meal took even longer and it was gone 9pm she couldn’t wait for more to be cooked so just had chips. We were very disappointed as this was our first time out for so long .

A very enjoyable and much enjoyed evening made all the better by the excellent customer service, friendly and approachable staff, who looked after our table of 4 brilliantly. The staff, Ash, Lauren and Laurie the general manager were professional and attentive throughout. Great team work.

We arrived were shown to our table and drinks were ordered and arrived . Our order was taken. We then waited forty five minutes when a member of staff came over and asked if we were waiting for the bill. We were so disgusted we walked out.

Food bland. Beef tasteless and vegetables overcooked. The vegetarian option was nut roast which simply replaced the beef and included gravy possibly containing beef? Ambiance lacking.

We booked and attended during COVID times so please bear that in mind when reading. The wifi didn't work and there was nothing to say that they knew of the problem, so spent ages (add did many others because mobile reception is poor in the area) trying to log in to order food and check-in with the COVID app before asking and finding it would just say 'connecting please wait'. We ordered and then waited 90 minutes for the food. Shortly after ordering a burger we were told that they had run out of all burgers. A short time later another table had the same response but then were told that they had one left. The food was OK but certainly not up to the prices quoted. The soup was luke warm and in desperate need of seasoning. Mac and cheese tasted like it had come from a tin. It possibly hadn't but that was the impression. The pork curry tasted like pork in blitzed tinned tomatoes with some onion and pepper to give some spice. Again, needed seasoning. Just nothing special. They did provide (unrequested) some free bread and dipping oils whilst we were waiting. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The Deverill beer, a local ale was excellent and tasted well conditioned. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The pub was scrupulously clean with good COVID compliance. We would go back - to give them a second chance - these are difficult times - especially for the hospitality trade.

Despite all tables being pre-booked, they were woefully understaffed - resulting in diabolical service and an interminable wait for mediocre food from a limited menu. An entirely unacceptable performance from the George made for a really disappointing half term treat.
