The service was very slow which we appreciate they were busy when we first arrived but the pub emptied out significantly and the service if anything got worse as we seem to get forgotten about. We had to remind them of our desert and drinks order. The food was just ok

Been coming often since opening after the flood. (So for many years) Always get a lovely pint but the food seems to go down in quality. Especially since Steve left.

This is a small country pub that offers quality food as well as overnight stays. We sat in the rear restaurant with table service. Our waiting staff were both very charming and knowledgeable. The menu has some pub classics mixed with some more varied dishes. I chose the pie of the day, which was a beef hotpot with a potato lid, pesto baby potatoes and stir fried leafy veg. A well presented and tasty meal. However the baby potatoes were undercooked and the beef strips slightly chewy, but still enjoyable. For dessert I had the spiced apple and rice pudding crumble. A very tasty novel take on a fruit crumble. I particularly like a bit of stodge in my puddings so this was very much up my street. One issue we had was with the menus. On sitting down at the table we were given the evening menu with the drinks list. On the table there was also a list of events which mentioned the Norfolk Restaurant Event. We asked the waiter about this and were told that there was a separate menu for the event which we were then given. It was a pared down set price version of the main menu. The items I had chosen were on this set menu. Also when the bill came I had to remind the waiter that I had had the set menu. If the venue is going to advertise that it's taking part in a special offer event then it should not be hiding it from the customers. Overall a pleasant meal but could easily have been so much better.

Poor quality food. The pie was so overcooked you needed a hammer and chisel to eat it. The chips were limp and tasteless. 4 of us ate dinner and not one of us thought the food was nice. We did complain and was refunded one meal. But in my opinion none of the meals were any good

It was a fairly busy Friday evening. We were a party of 3 with dogs. There were a couple of young ladies behind the bar and a young man serving tables. Their service was patient, friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were excellent. Will definitely return.

We were shown to our table and left without drinks and no order for food taken. We waited 20 minutes or so and were ignored by staff. When we eventually got a waitress’ attention she asked if we’d eaten or booked even though we had given our name and she had personally taken us to our table no 22. There was no apology forthcoming, she just stood looking at the screen on the till so we left. We were extremely disappointed at the rudeness and poor service

Appalling service:- We were left standing around waiting for our table to be cleaned. No one came to take our order so we had to go and find someone. By the time we got our meal we’d been there 45 minutes. The garlic bread accompaniment was inedible and one of our party was given what amounted to a child’s portion of mashed potato in contrast to another given 7 potatoes. The food was quite poor overall. No-one came to take our dirty plates or ask if we wanted dessert or drinks and our bill had added 2 bottles of Prosecco which we didn’t have. The girl behind the bar was surly when we complained and told us off for not reporting a broken glass! We’ll never return nor recommend

Such a shame as we have enjoyed drinks in this pub in the past, and were looking forward to a slap up roast dinner. When we arrived someone had spilt a drink all over the seat at our table and floor was filthy so we had to call someone over to help clear it up. The waiting staff were clearly over run and needed more help. We ordered roast beef and chicken, the meat was dry as a bone. The lighting as well was so overbearing, far too bright and glaring. A disappointing visit considering we spent over £120 for 4 people

The food was fine as far as pub meals go. The service was abysmal both at the bar and at the table, the serving staff were polite enough and apologised several times, but it shouldn’t have happened. It appeared there was no one in charge and the waiting staff were inexperienced at bast. It is a shame because the Golden Fleece used to be lovely. There was also a row between 3 people visiting one of the staff , having a loud (long) conversation right next to a table for 2 who were trying to enjoy their meal. When they were asked politely to move away they were verbally abused. It wasn’t as if the waitress had time to stand around talking! I hope it does improve . They are advertising Christmas dinner !!!

This is normally our favourite place to eat. We booked specifically this time for a Sunday roast. We arrived on time and there was a problem finding our table. When we were seated it then took a good 5 minutes for someone to serve us. We wanted to order the roast but were told they weren't sure if any beef left. The waitress disappeared for a further 5 minutes to find out. We were informed that they had not only run out of beef but also chicken as well. At 4pm? We ordered (reluctantly) something from the main menu which appeared eventually, peas were hard and barely warm, mash had a glaze on top of it as if it had been sitting around for a while. Sausages were average. Why these aren't sourced from the local award winning butcher is a mystery (anyone can buy Jolly Hog!). When paying for our "meal" we were asked by a very surly young girl if everything had been OK. My husband said no not really as we had been looking forward to a roast dinner. Her reply was "yes everyone says that but apart from that was it all ok". She once again was told that no it wasn't, she proceeded to give us the bill and asked if we wanted to leave a tip. Needless to say they didn't get one although the tip we would give would be make sure you have enough roast dinners for covers booked! I see they are advertising Christmas dinners. I sure hope they don't run out of those a few hours after opening. Needless to say we will not be returning in the future which is a shame as we have always enjoyed our meals. Service is poor and definitely not as friendly as it has been.
