The Great Room Restaurant is undoubtedly one of Northern Ireland’s most extraordinary restaurants. Thanks to the remarkable original Victorian interior with its glass cupola, Ireland’s largest chandelier an array of plasterwork detailing, the space is second to none. Needless to say our chefs search tirelessly to bring the finest seasonal ingredients together in eloquent dishes in thoughtfully prepared menus, just one of the reasons The Great Room Restaurant was awarded 2 AA Rosettes. All this is complemented by expert service and a wine list to which all the superlatives apply!
Mid- week lunch is served Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 14.15

    Fantastic experience. Ambiance and atmosphere unrivalled. Service was as ever top notch. Afternoon tea was as it should be with beautifully crafted, delicious food presented with flair and style.

    Absolutely one of the nicest afternoon teas we have ever had from the time we arrived at the front door of the hotel until the time we stepped out , amazing ambiance, fabulous food, beautiful decorations thankyou

    My husband and I were again not disappointed. The food combinations were delicious … Covid actions that we have never had previously. The fish was cooked beautifully and the food was very well presented on the plate. The staff were very attentive to us throughout. A great evening and we will be back. Thank you for a lovely evening!

    Table & restaurant really nice. Staff polite. Had a nice evening but we waited a long time on the food and when it arrived both starter and mains were not hot. The main had been sitting as the sauces had a ‘skin’ on them. We waited a while on the food coming and then when it did it wasn’t hot, it was really disappointing. The food itself tasted nice but it was as if it had been sitting somewhere to wait to be served to the table. It was a birthday celebration so it was unfortunately not as we hoped. Not sure what the issue was that evening bit not what I expect of somewhere like The Merchant.

    We were slightly underwhelmed with our experience! We waited nearly an hour for our starter, we weren’t offered bread had to ask! the cut of fillet I was served for my main was cooked well but was chewy not what I was expecting!! We’ve eaten in the great room a few times over the years and have always loved it sadly not this time.
