Welcoming staff. Restaurant was heated very well and so was very comfortable. It was extremely busy but staff seemed to cope well and were doing their best to keep everyone happy. Food was very good and most enjoyable. All in all, a very good eating experience. I would recommend this restaurant.

ordered Sea Bream as it was the daily special. they delivered salmon instead without any explanation. o after a long delay they returned to our ta le to explain they did not have any stock of the wine we ordered. the steak was decidedly average and over-cooked. the side dishes we ordered never arrived. left as soon as we could get away…. the did offer free dessert but does not really make up for one main course being finished before the 2nd arrived. Very disappointing as prior visit was good experience

it was our first meal at the Green Hen and I was apprehensive as I had only read earlier on in the day that the restaurant was in the courts over potential receivership. However, there was no evidence of any turmoil in the restaurant which was busy & very festive. We were given two glasses of complimentary prosecco upon arrival as it was our wedding anniversary which was lovely. We both had starters, cod and beef cheek for mains and shared a creme brulee for dessert. The food was very good - the cod was melt-in-the-mouth and the beef cheek was very satisfying, served with creamy mashed potato and onions. We had three glasses of the house red between us & our bill came to €140. My one critisism was that a 12.5% service charge was included, despite the fact we were only a table for two. The staff were all wonderful and our service was excellent. I hope that the Green Hen can resolve their financial issues, it would be such a shame to lose this lovely French-style bistro

Food is of the highest quality. Service is efficient and super friendly. A small wine list, but some really great wine. Love the atmosphere. Really good vegan and vegetarian options too.

We felt very rushed when we dined here recently. Some of our party were 15 mins late for a 6pm booking but we were told about 5 times that we had to give our table back at 8pm. We had no problem with that but did not need to be constantly reminded! We felt the service was very rushed, plates taken away the minute we put our cutlery down. Bill brought over to us without being asked for. Waiting staff constantly hovering and rushing us along. Not a relaxed meal at all. Food is overpriced and only average. We won’t be back!
