From the moment we walked in we were met with smiling friendly faces from all that worked at The Hawke. We were seated quickly and made to feel very welcome. Genuinely unpretentious and warm staff. Drinks (good Bloody Mary) were brought to our table, orders were taken quickly and the food arrived in good time all at once. The plates were hot! So few eateries do this, makes a real difference. Between us we had roast pork belly, a double cheeseburger and a bavette steak with side of crispy potatoes. Food was great, much better than your average pub Sunday lunch. The servers were engaging and friendly, we had a lovely time and will surely return. Thank you Team Hawke.

While I like the Old American vibe of the place, loved the music and the staff all seem like nice people, the first impressions of all that were ruined by the overall cleanliness of the place. There was dust everywhere, on all the window trims and the buttons of the seats, the cushioned booth seats I thought looked like they had some substance stuck into them that had gone shiny with wear like a bus seat but turns out they were just super worn. Anyway, I never ever do this but I actually looked up the Food Hygine cert because it seemed so poorly looked after - luckily they have 5* for that! So really just need to focus on cleaning front of house. The other thing is, the roasts are really expensive, one of the pricier ones in London, same price as places on the top 50 gastropubs in all of the UK. The London ones on that list have similar prices to the Hawke. I really don’t feel the quality lives up to that. There is no mention of the provenance of the meat, like is the beef aged, what type of cow or pig etc is it, that I’d normally see from somewhere charging these prices. It’s just ‘roast pork belly’, ‘ roast sirloin’. The portions are large, but the taste of the meat was very standard so I suspect it’s not listed because it’s just basic stuff, which would be fine, if the prices aligned!… perhaps it’s the nice Park location we are paying for..?!

The best burger! Delicious every time. A small menu, but they do everything well and the staff are so friendly. Nice little beer garden too, perfect for a summers eve.
