My wife & I always book The Keep when we come downtown for a show at the Palace Theatre because it’s so convenient: parking easy, solid dining experience, and right next to the Theatre. Greg our server who has taken good care of us many times before did a nice juggling between tables on an extremely busy night. The Chef and his team did a nice job serving up hot our tasty meals too. We’ll be back!

Nice place to grab a bite downtown, and the prices are the most reasonable I've seen at any restaurant in a long time. But it is a bustling place, so it's quite loud. And be prepared to linger over your drinks, because the food service did take a little while.

We recently dined at The Keep on a slow Wednesday night, and it was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. The restaurant wasn’t even busy when we arrived, yet we ended up spending over two hours waiting for our meal. Couples who were seated after us managed to eat, pay, and leave before we even saw our entrees. Our server didn’t acknowledge the absurd delay until much later, when he finally offered a half-hearted apology and blamed the kitchen for being “backed up.” This was a blatant lie—we could see into the open kitchen, and it was clear nothing was happening with our order. To make matters worse, we heard him putting in our order after he had already apologized. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm at best. The steak was a questionable cut, poorly prepared, and absolutely not worth the inflated price—or the ridiculous wait. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he offered dessert on the house but insisted it would be a hassle to take it to go—completely disregarding the fact that we were beyond ready to leave. We skipped the dessert, and not a single part of our meal was comped, despite the hours of our time wasted. Even paying the bill took an eternity. This experience was an embarrassment, and we will never be coming back. Total waste of our evening and we left still hungry.

I had high hopes for my visit to the Keep and I had wanted to visit for quite some time. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. We were greeted by several scattered individuals who didn’t seem to know what they were doing although they were kind to us. I had a reservation, and after much confusion, the manager was still unsure if we could be seated or not because the table was not set properly for two people instead it was set for four. That would’ve been fine, except that the service was so slow and our orders were mixed up more than once with the neighbouring tables orders. It took a very long time for our server to even arrive at our table and when he did, he didn’t take a drink order. We had to ask if we could have a cocktail. The salad was fabulous and the food we finally got was as promised with the exception of my very expensive steak, which was overcooked. Unfortunately once again, it took way too long for our server to even check on us so it wasn’t worth having it re-made. My companion was already done eating. To make matters worse I spent much of our evening there watching the manager and the server stand next to another table and have a lengthy conversation with the couple there. Clearly they could’ve been doing a better job for the other 99% of the customers. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. The server did comp my steak, but I really would’ve rather had a nice meal.
