A traditional pub serving contemporary English food in the heart of Fitzrovia. The Lore is composed of The Pub on the ground floor, The Kitchen on the first floor and Private room with bar on the top floor.

All of our food is freshly prepared by Head Chef Michal Kaszuba and his brigade in the Lore kitchen on the first floor. Our menus have been created especially to reflect the seasons, when ingredients are at their very best.
Our legendary Sunday roast is slow-cooked with delicious trimmings.

THE PUB
A copper and pewter topped bar serving a range of beers, including our very own Gritchie brews, premium spirits, cocktails and selected wines. The walls are adorned with eclectic and original artwork.

THE KITCHEN
Open plan but still intimate. Experience the sight and sound of our open kitchen with the Chefs cooking on our bespoke, charcoal fuelled oven and char-grill.

THE PRIVATE ROOM
A wonderful private room with private bar on its own floor.

First time at The Lore of the Land. Blown away by the quality of food, wine and service. We had a group of 7 friends dining for lunch, had an enjoyable pre lunch drink in the bar, and then an amazing 3.5 hours of incredible lunch experience. Particular call out for our waitress, Cher, who served us for the entire 3.5 hours. Great knowledge of the dishes, good sense of humour, and really made the experience top drawer for us. Definitely going again soon.

Had a birthday dinner upstairs, felt very cosy, food was fabulous - we had beef cheeks and buratta, and the roast potatoes. Defo the best potatoes we’ve had in our lives! We enjoyed nyetimber bubbles, and they even brought out a mini cake with candle at the end ✨

Great food and beer, unfortunately service was a let down, had to get up twice to order more drinks.

Pub was cold, windows open above us, service was slow and while the food was nice enough it wasn’t outstanding and arrived like warm, certainly not worth the £80 per head price tag that we ended up paying.

Six of us went for Sunday lunch and had the family sharing platter. It was amazing! Meat cooked to perfection and lots of gravy with the huge Yorkshire puddings. Also freshly roasted potatoes red cabbage and carrots, both the latter with a tasty twist. The pub itself is over 4 floors and it was fully booked for both the 12 pm sitting and the 3 pm. Despite its size it’s cozy and incredibly friendly. The staff all knew exactly what to do and all were very professional and efficient throughout. The only issue ( and it really wasn’t a problem ) was the constant pressure to buy more drinks. No sooner was a bottle empty, we were being asked if and when we wanted the next one opened. I don’t know if this is normal practice so it definitely wouldn’t stop me returning. All in all a fabulous pre Xmas day out !

Mixed experience, but overall good . Bread and butter starter quite awful. Bread was more like cake, dry doughy and overcooked / burnt. Scotch egg was excellent, hoisin sauce pairing sublime. Ordered the Barolo wine, served cold (was told it had been in wine fridge !!) Roast and trimmings were excellent. Pork was juicy and fantastic cracking, lamb moist and delicious. Beef was cooked perfectly but the cut of beef lacked flavour (not chefs fault). Donut and panacotta were excellent, the sticky toffee pudding was overcooked (made by the same person who did the bread ?) min r pie ice cream fantastic. Worth a visit but chose carefully

Brilliant service, our waiter said drinks were on him as the food was 2 mins later than he said it would be. Food was great, overall ambience of the pub was nice, great traditional pub. Would highly recommend.

The food here was amazing. Not your typical pub restaurant food. Great comfort dishes and the dessert was amazing.

We had a dinner booked for 7.30pm they were running late with service but I have to say we hardly noticed the pub had an amazing atmosphere the staff are very attentive and apologetic, they took a drinks round off the bill for the long wait. The food was amazing I had the monk fish tail and my husband had the pork loin absolutely delicious. You must try the beef fat popcorn omg it’s very tasty they should sell bags of this loved it. We will definitely e back can’t wait to sample the Sunday dinner.
