I never post reviews, but felt I had to this time. Very disappointed--ending our claim that this is our favorite restaurant. We have eaten at The Milling Room many times over the years, including twice for Thanksgiving. It has always been wonderful. This year we continued our tradition of Thanksgiving here, and instead of finding a bustling, packed room and jovial vibe, as in past years, it was half empty and diners were mostly quietly staring into space. We really regret the meal ourselves as well and feel ripped off. The only positive thing we can say about that night is that our servers were friendly, although totally unknowledgeable about what they were serving—from the very so-so wine pairing and when to bring the wines to the food on the plate, or even if dessert was ever served or not. And the food itself was mediocre. Chestnut soup and salad were fine, although small, and lobster ravioli good, although not outstanding. But the traditional Thanksgiving plate was really a letdown. It included 3 Brussels sprouts, all undercooked, a small amount of bland potato puree and 4 thick, dry wheels of white turkey meat with a trace of stuffing packed into it. The portions on the plate were laughably small, too--this is Thanksgiving! Ditto the desserts--tarts so tiny they belonged more to afternoon tea than the occasion they were made for. Whoever orchestrated the evening must either not have grown up with Thanksgiving or hates it.

Thanksgiving special menu was good. nothing special. They had a screwy and confusing way of presenting you with a bill for prix fixe charge then a separate bill for additional items such as drinks and coffee. You wind up paying tax on your tax, I believe.

Food is as mediocre. Service was very very slow. Very pricey for what it was. Will not plan to return. Started off poorly when we were offered still or sparkling and not tap and understood it was a house water option. Felt like we were being ripped off.

food was okay and had the service been better it might have been a pleasant experience. The restaurant was not full. Service was terribly rushed. entrees arrived with in seconds of the apps being cleared. I didn’t eat most of my very large charcuterie platter which consisted primarily of salami and some pickles. a few slices of prosciutto. no cheese, no pate, no bread no jams or mustards. i asked the server to pack it up for me to take home later. instead he put in in a bag and dropped it unceremoniously on the table while i was eating my enteee. just an unpleasant experience overall. pretty venue but they need to step up the food and the service

David was a great server with a ton of knowledge on the menu and the history of the venue. We had a great time. The cocktails were great. Definitely going back for the Black Manhattan.

The duck was served Luke warm twice. The side sauce was like jam, paired with wine, i felt like i partaking in a test for diabetes.

Decent food but an understaffed set of waiters made the service exceedingly slow

After being moved from the dining room to the tavern when a last minute affair was booked we were skeptical, but we have a fabulous mean and perfect service by Ludwig. We started with steak tartar and a trio of dips that were all delicious. Main meals were duck and cavatelli with lamb ragu, prepared perfectly with professional presentation. We capped our meal with decadent chocolate cake that was a perfect sweet ending. Martini and Old Fashion cocktails were a great beginning to a lovely meal. We will be back.
