A nice pub with good food. There seemed to be a lack of staff for the service so things were not top notch. The food could have been amazing but the main course was let down by slightly overcooked fish and the fish had no flavor at all which let me very disappointed. I must say the starter and dessert were fantastic and the accompaniments to the fish were really great but as the fish was meant to be the star it was a let down. They did give our two soft drinks for free but really if a restaurant is trying to be a gastro pub they need to tick all the boxes. I would go back just to see if it was an off day but I have heard similar things from other people

The only reason we have a 4 star was because we had to wait about 15 mins in the bar area before going to our table ( which was empty) we were in the way of waiters/ customers and it was a bit embarrassing. Other than this we loved our food and had a nicely positioned table. Will certainly return.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff and good quality food together we an interesting and diverse wine list. Would have been great to have seen a couple more V or VE options available for my wife but the options she did choose were very good.

Lovely pub in a nice spot. A nice welcome when we arrived and were led to our table. I had the vegetarian roast, (nut loaf) a bit over salty for me, but one of the better veggie roasts I’ve had in pubs/restaurants. My partner had the roast beef, she said it was delicious. Afterwards I had the Rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream. It actually looks more like a kind of tart. Tasted great, the rhubarb was still quite sharp, not over sugared. Just how I like it, the crumble part had a great texture too. My one niggle, not enough rhubarb. We will definitely try the place again as I want to try the fish and chips. 8/10

Overall it was a great experience. I ordered the celeriac soup and the braised beef and both were exceptional. After raising our expectations based on the excellent starters, my partner just commented that the fish and chips dish could be better based on that. The service was very good overall and we will definitely be booking back again .

The staff were charming, it was a 90th Birthday celebration and one of the trio had a healing broken kneecap so needed a chair with arms to help her rise. The food was delicious, my beef so tender, excellent selection of veg, savoy, Swede and carrots, the pork crackling was lovely tasty and crunchy. Puddings were raspberry sorbet with a tot of limoncello - like a fruity afrogato, mine a deconstructed honeycomb cheese cake perfect flavour. Candle and Happy Birthday plate and card a thoughtful touch. Will return
