About this restaurant

  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Great for scenic views
  • Charming
The Old Quay House is uniquely located on the edge of the RSPB Hayle Estuary, with its beautiful views and wildlife to enjoy. We offer a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for couples and families alike. Children are sure to enjoy our large garden with it's fun play area, whilst you sit and enjoy a chilled out drink.

We are open daily from 11.30am, serving lunch from 12pm and dinner from 6pm (times may change during busy periods - food not served all day). Our menu includes a great selection of traditional and contemporary English dishes, including pie of the day, fish & chips, as well as several scrumptious fish dishes like seafood kebabs.
During lunchtime you can also choose from lighter options like sandwiches and salads.

We also have a children's menu to select from, as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

On Sunday's we serve our incredibly popular carvery, as well as a shortened Sunday menu at both lunch and dinner.

We look forward to welcoming you

Food was hot and well cooked. Had steaks mine was well done but quite tough ( I always have well done so I can compare). My relatives was medium and enjoyable. No English mustard. Peppercorn sauce wasn’t very nice. It tasted like gravy with peppercorns in. It had red peppercorns as well as black. Quite acidic. I would recommend they totally change the sauce to a more traditional one. The puddings were too expensive. I would recommend they take at least £2 off most of them. Also a better variety would be good. We didn’t have pudding. Half the staff looked happy and half the staff could do with smiling a bit more. I’m not local but when im back down again I will go back to try something different.

Main dining / carvery area was exceptionally noisy and chaotic and was not very appealing. However, our table around the corner was away from the chaos and we enjoyed our meal.

Lovely setting, food was very good, the only reservations we had was that some two seater tables were pushed in between larger sets making it a bit of a challenge.

The only let down was the cauliflower cheese wasn't cheesy enough and wasn't crunchy, otherwise it was really good.
