Situated in the bustling heart of Dupont Circle is The Pembroke, a sophisticated dining destination. Featuring contemporary American fare with global influences, The Washington Post’s food critic Tom Sietsema described the experience as “cut from a different cloth." The Pembroke’s stunning design by Martin Brudnizki features plush velvet coral-toned banquettes around glossy marble tables, cream-paneled walls with playful artwork, and boasts panoramic views of the neighborhood, while a seasonal terrace offers al fresco dining from spring to fall. The marble-topped bar is a bright and airy nod to cocktail bars of the 1950s and features classic drinks with a twist and a selection of fine wines. Reserve your table today to see how “The Pembroke makes Dupont Circle a destination again.”

A great brunch: the best lemon ricotta pancakes (based on sampling my companion’s) and bagel with smoked salmon I’ve ever had, along with mixed berries, a delicious Bellini and freshly squeezed juices. Portions are generous and attractively presented, service is terrific (attentive and courteous), and the dining room is attractive and light-filled. I’m inspired to return for dinner as well as brunch!

It's our first time in Washington D.C. and we decided to spend our New Year's Eve dinner here. It exceeded our expectations. We were very well looked after by Alonso, the atmosphere was incredible and the food was wonderful. We recommend it 100%.

The Pembroke - A Brunch to Remember in D.C. Our brunch at The Pembroke in D.C. was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we sat down to the very last bite, everything exceeded expectations. We ordered the Brioche French Toast for the table to share and it was truly a showstopper. Beautifully balanced—sweet but not overpowering—with layers of hazelnut and orange flavors that perfectly complemented each other. It was as stunning to look at as it was to eat, and everyone at the table agreed it was the highlight of the meal. For our main dishes, my youngest enjoyed the kid’s breakfast with cheesy eggs and a pancake on the side. He loved it, and that’s saying something since he rarely finishes his plate! My middle son, a teenager, chose the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, while my husband had the Pembroke Breakfast, which he absolutely loved—especially the greens, which he described as uniquely delicious. I opted for the Crab Cakes Benedict, and it was indescribably lovely. The crab cakes were fresh and clearly made with care, and the perfectly poached eggs oozed beautifully when cut. It was one of the best brunch dishes I’ve ever had. The highlight of our experience was Miguel, our server. He was incredibly kind and patient, especially with our youngest as he was deciding what to order, and his recommendations were spot on. His attentive and warm service added a personal touch to an already delightful experience. The Pembroke is a must-visit for anyone in D.C.—delicious food, impeccable service, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Nestled in the heart of Washington DC, The Pembroke is a delightful culinary gem that offers a perfect blend of ambiance, service, and exquisite dishes. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed! Starting with the Bagel Salmon, I was blown away by the freshness of the ingredients. The bagel was perfectly toasted, providing a delightful crunch that complemented the silky, rich cream cheese and the succulent slices of smoked salmon. The addition of capers and red onions added a burst of flavor that elevated the dish to new heights. It was a beautifully balanced plate that left me craving more. The Eggs Benedict was equally remarkable. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, with the yolks oozing out beautifully when cut. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and rich, striking the right balance of tanginess that paired wonderfully with the savory ham. Served atop a toasted English muffin, this dish was a comforting yet elegant choice that made for a satisfying brunch experience. Beyond the food, the restaurant design is a feast for the eyes. The interior strikes a harmonious balance between modern elegance and cozy charm. With its warm lighting, tasteful decor, and inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting for a leisurely meal or a special occasion. The service was nothing short of excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was seamless. They were quick to offer recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

Rats everywhere along the windows of the restaurant. Not inside the restaurant. Very disturbing to see over dinner.

I had the crab Benedict and had to send back because eggs were over cooked and the meal was cold. Wait staff friendly, but not proactive/organized. I asked for hot water and waiter proceeded to add our butter plates to table instead of getting my hot water first.

Dear Beth, We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations, especially with the Crab Benedict. We completely understand how important it is for dishes to be served at the right temperature and cooked to perfection, and we regret that this wasn’t the case during your visit. Poorly managed and the food was sub par. Definitely not a five star hotel. The manager tried to spin why they were out of food, and then said oh by the way we have the dishes the kitchen was trying to close.
    The PembrokeResponded 7 days ago
Dear Mary, Thank you for your feedback. Due to how popular our Christmas offering was, we did run out of a few of the dishes towards the end of service. Even though we encountered this issue, we were delighted to be able to serve you both of the dishes that you had requested. We hope to see you in the restaurant in the future where were ensure that your experience will be better. Warm regards, The Pembroke Team

Took my husband here for a birthday dinner on Christmas day 2024. Booking was simple and I was able to get surface parking across the street. The ambiance is lovely. It's a small place and is really nice. The lighting was too dim, though. I will mention upfront that I am vegetarian. I knew what I was getting into when I booked the reservation for my husband, who is not vegetarian. 0 veg options. The dinner spread was decent. Started with an open raw bar with a spread of clams, cheeses, lobster claws, etc. It was nice to be able to go up and choose my plate(s). The rest of the meal consisted of 3 courses. A choice of 4 possibilities for each, until the restaurant ran out of 2 of the main courses! Luckily my husband and I were able to get what we ordered, but the two tables around us that sat mere minutes after us were unable to get the dishes they wanted. Though this did not affect us, I am dinging them for this severe oversight. Who plans a set menu and runs out of, what is obviously going to be the popular choice for Christmas dinner, the Wellington? Two of my dishes were incredibly mediocre. The lobster bisque was nearly inedible: cold, and so fishy! WAY too much fish stock used in the dish, even for him, who does not mind the taste. My husband's beef carpaccio seemed good but he struggled with the bread it was laid upon. Way too hard. My main course, the roasted turbot, was really delicious. I do not normally eat fish or clams but this dish was cooked to perfection, and the sauce it was in was absolutely delicious. My husband's short rib Wellington looked good. Cooked properly. And he liked it. However that was all that was on the dish. There were no sides - not even a single potato! My dessert was just ok. Some tasteless almond cake/cookie thing for me, and a toffee cake for my husband, which was much better than mine. Overall I would give the whole experience a 6/10. For $130 pp, I should have been wowed by more than 1 dish, and I was not.
