Attentive service by the lovely Irish waitress who served us. Very knowledgeable about the menu and carefully helped my friend select options that did not trigger their allergies (even double checking with the chef for reassurance) We enjoyed a tasty selection of tapas, Vinho Verdi wine and 2017 Churchill Port to finish in a beautiful candle-lit setting with a wonderful music playlist.

Booked in advance ,no problem on arrival . Very nice ambiance. Very difficult to order as the waiters English was not great . We ordered by using a pen to mark on the menu what we wanted! Avoid the Torrenzo de Pancetta £6.95, as this was just a small plate of tiny crumbs! Imagine a packet of Pork Crackling smashed up! The other 6 dishes arrived without any explanation of each dish ,just dumped in front of us. They were adequate at best. Waiters had no interaction with us regarding, if every thing was ok. Do you want another wine ?etc. And ,obviously services charge was added to the bill, for what ? If I personally was paying the bill I certainly would have taken it off. On leaving not even a thankyou or goodbye. As this is very close to 2 Theatres, I personally felt that pre theatre dining here they take advantage of that. Be wary of that. Quite expensive for what you get. Just don’t be afraid to complain AT THE TIME ,as we should have done.

I’m loathe to tell it as it was but the disconnect with the waitress was severe, I would have expected better from a fast food restaurant. The way the waitress first of all ignored my request to be served than shoved a paper in front of me and asked me to mark the menu ( with a biro) with x’s for what I wanted to order, which drew an interesting expression from my date… the lack of eye contact from the waitress was obvious,, the way she dropped plates glasses in the table, , shoving plates of food anywhere, Messy wine etiquette. Despite knowing I reserved and booked the table, and that I placed the wine order the wine the waitress refused to address me , and instead poured the wine for my date to taste, and at the end gave the bill to my date. All of which my date took in their stride, me less so, but I’m far too polite to have made a scene. Having never booked this restaurant before and been nothing but polite and civil during our sitting- she made it very easy for me to conclude she had a certain type of issue… The male waiter on the other hand, who attended us latterly was attentive helpful and a hope more representative of the service I might expect from the port house

Ambience was good. However the food and service… Food: Tasteless food with no salt in it.. prawns and Jamon not very fresh. All dishes were not authentic. Service: a guy with knew nothing about the menu. We asked question about several dishes, what does Gallician mean? He just repeated the menu description. I asked does it mean garlic? He said yes. After I googled, I realised it was an area name in Spain. My friend asked some questions, he just repeated the description too. But there was a 12.5% service charge! Wtf. What did we pay for? He did not even say Goodbye to us, just looked at us.
