The Potting Shed is a place to meet, eat, drink, relax and chat your day and night away – where hanging plants, terracotta pots and timber beams meet brass, brick and iron. Where you can plant yourself down on the swing seat, bench or at the bar and feel like you are on your family’s porch.

It’s a lively place where you can hoe into fresh, locally harvested produce, delivered by our shed-hands. The same hands that will deliver you good-natured banter, craft beers on tap, great tasting wines and unique cocktails.

The menu offers cozy share options for groups, three course substantial meal choices for those wanting to make an evening of it and a fun selection of nibbles for people wanting a light after-work snack with their cocktails or a share jug amongst friends.

Plus, enjoy exclusive after-dark access to The Grounds of Alexandria's latest laneway attractions when you dine in!

We were so incredibly disappointed with the dining experience at the Potting Shed. The food was sub par for the price. My brother in law ordered the lamb rack and received to small lamb cutlets and too many beans. The seafood pasta was bland, minimal seafood, and the pasta was more like egg noodles than Al dente pasta. We were seated in what appeared to be a thoroughfare. Every single waiter that walked (ran) past, bumped the back of my chair, one coming centimetres from spilling sauce from a steak or something down the back of my chair. The mains came seconds after the starters. And my main came only after all other 7 of our table were halfway through their meals. Staff seemed over stretched and harried, attention to small requests went without response so we ended up not bothering to ask again I was so embarrassed because my family had come there for the first time from interstate and I had expressed how we had always loved coming to the Grounds. I definitely will it be booking The Potting Shed again.

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with all its greenery and lights. We ordered many dishes and each and every dish was absolutely delicious. Service was quality and efficient. The Christmas display was magical! We even got to witness a proposal in the Christmas garden which was a bonus! Overall all a 10/10 experience

The food was nothing to write home about with no decent vegetarian options. A lot of people were disappointed to find out that the big Christmas display was privately booked by a company who's workers were already drunk and constantly using foul language in front of children,so they couldn't go in with their children. I I had known this, I wouldn't have wasted my time or money booking a table at all....without the display dinner definitely wasn't worth it.

While our food and service were acceptable for the number of clientele dining, we had a poor experience due to the issue of no access to the laneway decorated pink for Christmas and the ballet shoe tree. The Grounds state that no access to the laneway unless you are dining in the restaurant, thats fair enough and were were happy to dine there, as we have before. The problem was...we were not advised before or after making our reservation that on the night of the 20th December there would be absolutely no access to the Pink Christmas Laneway due to closure for a private corporate function. Very poor business practice considering the management would have had prior knowledge of the private function. All of the staff were confused whether the lane was open or not. My daughter and her 3 yo had travelled from Perth the night before and were only staying two nights. The Grounds was chosen for our little granddaughter who was so excited to see the ballet shoe tree...she left in tears very upset due to poor management by The Grounds!!!!

Whilst nice food, two of the meals arrived almost cold. We found it very hard to talk to the waitress about what our son could eat with his allergies and as if it was a major inconvenience, it definitely felt like she didn’t want to be at work. Mocktail was only half full and so overwhelming strong I had to add water (I’m assuming an ingredient was missed). We usually love the grounds and have been numerous times but this visit has left a negative mark for us. The menu also appeared to be different and not as exciting.
