Set on Mitchell Hill, a medieval route from the city of Truro to the East, in a quiet, historical quarter, The Rising Sun is the hub of the local community and a destination for visitors to the county. Surrounded by charming lanes with views to the cathedral, diverse historical buildings, an abundance of trees and greenery.
Seven years ago Katie & Tom Hannon stepped into a very dark and sad shell of a pub. An overwhelming amount of work paled into insignificance against the excitement at what they thought could be created in this out of the way building with a very long and interesting history. A lot of hard labour ensued to create their vision of showcasing the best qualities of a modern pub; seamlessly combining carefully sourced, sophisticated yet familiar food and drink in a welcoming authentic pub environment. Elegant, delicious food alongside fantastic local beers, unusual wines and a great array of craft spirits all wrapped up in a relaxed atmosphere.

The quality standard and attention to detail was superb, the best meal in a pub restaurant I've had in years. The staff were xexcellent, friendly and worked extremely hard when the restaurant was pa k. We will be back, if your looking for a quality restaurant with quality food then this is the place, it is on the pricey side but we'll worth that for the standard of food. Thank you

This was a birthday meal for my wife. From the outside this is an unassuming little pub, inside it is a like the Tardis! Really nice place, attentive and knowledgeable staff. We both had scallops, prepared differently, and we both had catch of the day. For me it was hake my wife chose sea bass. Each dish and accompaniments were first class. A pre starter of a caramelised brioche bun with special butter and a dipping sauce was to die for. Not cheap but good value for money.

A delightful find, and we are bewildered why we have not come across this pub/restaurant before! It's not pub-food but haute cuisine at very good value. The menu is original and well cooked.

Lovely local Pub. Parking a bit hit and miss. Good cosy atmosphere. Good prices. Good Sunday lunch but the gravy was way too thin and watery for our liking.

Lovely pub but service while polite and gracious was slow and a little unattended. Hard to tell whether the roast tasted of much more than the very salty gravy it was all saturated in. Why they couldn’t have given you the gravy in a separate dish I have no idea. The gravy was so salty that it swamped all taste. Roast potatoes were average and the one Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. Shame really as the lamb might have tasted delicious as it was very tender.
