The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

    The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood. If there are any concerns, please reach out before booking a reservation.

    The food was great. We were told that our table would be needed so we had a time limit which was fine. The service was subpar to say the least. Very slow to order drinks and food. Asked multiple times for water to be brought. Had to ask for the bills and boxes as well.

    1st time here. The atmosphere was great. Upscale and trendy vibe. Food was very good 3 out of 4 dishes were great, the salmon was just ok. Service was very good. Would recommend and go back for sure.

    Third time at the chefs table. Always a perfect night! Food extraordinary, service impeccable. Try the cocktail pairing! If you’re lucky enough to have Ryan taking care of you, you’re in for a treat :)

    I had a fantastic anniversary dinner at The Standard! Everything was delicious - we loved the calamari, burrata with olives, salmon, and the short rib was fantastic. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. Definitely my new go-to spot for celebratory dinners in Hamilton!

    A gem in downtown Hamilton, short walk from FirstOntario Hall. The waiters were very attentive to our needs and the food was as promised or even better. The carrots additions were delightful and so were the duck and octopus risotto. A must go to and wish we can back. I would love to have such place in Toronto.
