I made a reservation here for my wife and I ahead of a Lions home game. It started great, the vibes were dope, they had a great DJ, and the staff was nice. But things went downhill pretty quickly... First, they...are...slow. It took quite some time to get my espresso martini, but I wasn't that pressed. But the food took FOREVER. I ordered chicken & waffles, and my wife order the cheeseburger & pommes frites. Mines was pretty good, but her fries were cold, the burger was pink after she asked for well done (and had asked the server to confirm the kitchen can do it), and the sauce she asked for on the side was missing. We told the server, and she took it back and brought another burger...that was also pink. She gave up on that and ordered the short rib...which then took a whole 'nother FOREVER to come out. There was a notable negative change in demeanor from our server as well after sending the first dish back. We were told more than once that the kitchen & bar were backed up and they were slammed. I would expect that this would be expected before a home football game. Again, they had a DJ and there was staff wearing Lions gear, I don't think this situation snuck up on them. Overall a ton of unrealized potential. My experience matches many of the others I've seen: nice ambiance with slow service and meh food. Vibes aren't enough, I won't be returning.

Food was excellent, however service was terrible and there was a DJ playing music too loud which did not allow us to have a great experience

This was our second time dining at The Statler and we were a little disappointed as it was a let down from our first time. First of all, let me complement our server, Rasool. He was excellent. He was very efficient. He kept us informed of our meal/kitchen progress while he presented a very easy rapport while maintaining a professional posture. We highly recommend him as a server. That brings me to the food. Let me start by saying that overall, the food was good. However, there were a few items that need to be mentioned. First, I ordered the sole but was informed that they didn't have sole that evening but were substituting halibut. Which is fine. I love halibut as long as it's not overcooked, which it was. It was pan seared to a dry and chewy texture. I still ate it as time was a factor for the show were seeing at the Fox. I ordered the Country Lyon salad which was supposed to be on little gem lettuce but came out with mixed field greens. No explanation, just disappointment. My wife ordered the roasted beet salad which was really a tossed field green salad with a few cut up beets in it. It was a let down on both presentation and flavor. On a positive note, we parked in the basement lot which the manager validated for us. So keep that in mind if you go. We will most likely not return as there are many great restaurants in downtown Detroit to patronize for a pre-theater night out.

We had a special wine pairing dinner which was a nice surprise. The chef/server (Marcus) made sure that the items were prepared GF due to an allergy. Marcus was also very attentive to our need to be done at a certain time due to having show tickets. He was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great location in the heart of Detroit’s sports and theater district
