    First visit post remodel. Food and service as always was fantastic; we lived the refreshed look which also maintains the historical charm of the Tavern. Especially loved the remake of the Adam’s Apple bar! Can’t wait to go back.

    Celebrating an early Thanksgiving at this Penn state icon! Excellent steak salad, crab appetizer, and bolognese pasta! The only downside was the carrot cake… dry dry dry.

    The prime rib was extremely over salted to a point of I couldn’t eat it. The waiter saw my difficulty and asked if I would like something else. I didn’t want anything else and they graciously removed it from the bill. Serves excu,

    Nice place for dinner. Went mid week so the place was quiet. Service was excellent-Adam had good energy, and the right amount of attention. Food was good as were the desserts. Would visit again.

    We have been going to the tavern for over 30 years. This is by far our worst experience. Waiter was kind of not around unless you were ready to order within five minutes of sitting down. Had a hair in my salad and waiter did not even try to replace nor comp. Food was ok, just did not feel as special as it once was.

    Our food and service was fantastic! However, since we had reservations - I was highly disappointed that they seated our party of 2 in a small room with a boisterous group. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t ask to be moved. It was a Wednesday night and wasn’t overly crowded. We had practically shout at each other to have a conversation. The other group was having a great time - the hostess team should’ve known not to seat anyone else in this room.

    We ordered escargot, scallops, New England clam chowder, shrimp and Steak egg roles, and shrimp and grits. All were well prepared and presented and deserving of 4.5 stars with the exception of the shrimp and grits which would merit a 4 simply because it needed some salt. Would definitely recommend and will return.
